CM 7.1 - Information about the amount of pics / video's remaining when in cam mode?

Hi,

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude of the amount of customization options that CM7 poses on my Moto Defy in comparison with the stock ROM.
However, I think that some apps show a regression in functionality and user experience. Such example is the camera mode. With stock app I could select the information about the maximum remaining amount of pictures / video I could make considering the filesize and the (remaining) destination space. With the stock CM7.1 cam app, I can't.
I can imagine that it wouldn't be such a problem for pictures (unless if you're perhaps planning to use your phone as a vacation camera), but for video's it would be highly beneficial if not necessary for people who don't have big microSD cards.
Also, I would very much appreciate if people could recommend me alternative camera apps which present the aforementioned functionality.

Thanks in advance

I've an HTC Desire with CYM 7 installed. As any HTD owner knows the memory is teeny weeny tiny so I'd hoped to use s2e to improve things. I tried ROM manager to partition the card having copied all the data on it to my PC. It "seemed" to go OK. Downloaded s2e, rebooted and when I go into s2e all but the download cache is greyed out.

Any ideas what I've done wrong?

Size of the Cyanogen ROM Source Download

Hello Experts,

I am a newbie in Android OS, however I have a long time expertise using Linux OSs (Fedora, Debian & RHEL).

I have a Creative ZiiO 10 inch tablet coming with Froyo ( 2.2 ).
As the built in OS is still unsatisfactory I intend to build a custom GingerBread ROM.

Currently, I am downloading the Cyanogen Mod Source code.
However, the size of Cyanogen ROM is very surprising.
As the download has been running for 36 hours nonstop, the download size is about 11 (eleven) Gigabytes.

I would like to know ... how big is the Cyanogen Gingerbread ROM source ?

I only need the GingerBread source only.

repo command :

# repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b gingerbread
# repo sync

As investigated, the size of the running download :

root@Microknoppix:/mnt/x/androidsource/cyanogen-ginger/.repo# du -sh ./*
512 ./manifest.xml
43K ./manifests
487K ./manifests.git
11G ./projects
1.3M ./repo
root@Microknoppix:/mnt/x/androidsource/cyanogen-ginger/.repo# cd projects
root@Microknoppix:/mnt/x/androidsource/cyanogen-ginger/.repo/projects# du -sh ./*
486K ./android.git
7.7M ./bionic.git
5.2M ./bootable
12M ./build.git
41M ./dalvik.git
55M ./development.git
6.8G ./device
512M ./external
1.1G ./frameworks
40M ./hardware
31M ./libcore.git
15M ./ndk.git
351M ./packages
1.7G ./prebuilt.git
16M ./sdk.git
19M ./system
94M ./vendor

The huge file size is in the device folder, which contains some specific files for the supported devices.

Finally, I would like to know :
1. Exactly How big is the Cyanogen gingerbread source ?
2. Regarding the files inside device folder, I would like to build only for Creative ZiiO tablet, so :
- can those huge files be disregarded or not needed to be downloaded ?
- any repo command parameter to skip those files ?

Many thanks in advance. ;-)

Bluetooth disconnect problem in car

I have a problem with my SGS2 when I try to use it in my car.
The phone and the car BT are pairing, I can use the BT, but after a few minutes the phone disconnects.
The phone starts search and connects again to the car but after a while disconnects again and again...
Today I used my navi software and the bluetooth worked fine while it was running.
So maybe it's an energy save function error, the phone tries to sleep when there isn't any active/running app?
It never happened with the stock ROM.
Thank you if you have any idea how to solve it!

I have turned off as much as I can but can't help but think they still eat resources.

Attachment Option Problems

My husband installed Cyano Cyan0genMod 7 stable yesterday to replace an earlier root. I received a picture attachment in Gmail this morning. Although I can see the picture the save button is not working. If I hold my finger down on the picture there appears to be several options available on the top of the page but they just flash on just for moment and then dissappear? At this point I cannot save the picture or doing anything else with the picture. I cannot get it to show up in my Gallery or Quickpic.
Any suggestions?

CM 7.1 Vibration is driving my callers (and me) nutts.

Ok, first off... *applause* well done on CM 7.1 I love cyanogen but 7.1 (over v7.0) gave me a decent improvement in speed when flicking around my wildfire.

However... I have hit a snag and I`m frankly stumped as to how to fix it.

when I am on the phone, my phone vibrates when the call connects (both incomming and out going calls)

When i hold my phone to my ear, the screen shuts off which is normal, however if i move the phone on my ear slightly, or I tilt my head or some such the screen can come back on and *BUZZ*BUZZ* aginst my ear giving me a bleeding ear drum and damn near deafening the poor son of a b*** on the other end. I have to take calls whilst remaining bolt upright with my phone stapled to my skull so as not to allow the screen to light up during the call.

I have ran through the phone and shut off anything that even hints that it may vibrate and still it does it.

I hope you can help.

My phone: HTC Wildfire (standard)
Cyanogen 7.1
Virgin mobile UK.

P.s. where do I dontate to the new farm / running costs ? I`m skint but frankly ive had so much use out of this that I am sure I can part with something.

How to unzip files without a file manager (simple tutorial)

How to unzip .zip files without a file manager!! (missed the .zip in the title)

Example:

- open up terminal emulator
- type su (gain superuser permissions) hit enter.
- type cd sdcard (changes directory to sdcard) hit enter.
- type ls (to see what folders and files are listed on the sd card, this command can be for any changed directory) hit enter.
- now all you need to do is locate what directory your .zip file is located.
- so for example cd wallpaper/packs now hit enter.
- now type unzip and whatever the .zip file is named for example (unzip wallpapers.zip then hit enter)

Cleaner version:

- su (hit enter)
- cd sdcard (hit enter)
- ls (hit enter) [just to see whats files/directories are on the sdcard]
- cd wallpaper/packs (hit enter) [the .zip file is located in the "packs" directory]
- ls (hit enter) [shows what files/directories are in the packs directory]
- unzip wallpapers.zip (enter) [should be the name of your .zip file]

there you go, you have unzipped a pack of wallpapers! haha

Now you can locate your unzipped file(s) in your file manager in the same folder you unzipped them.
