Hello,

Here is the beta3 version of the upcoming CM 7.0.0 for HTC Hero GSM based on Gingerbread (android 2.3.2). Most certainly the last beta release because nightlies are here.

Download CM7 Beta3:
http://www.4shared.c...Hero-signe.html

Gapps:
gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip from here http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/

Note
- Before flashing make sure you do a total wipe data/cache wipe (expect if coming from beta1 or beta2)
- over-clocking at 748 freezes the device for me, 710 is ok using smartass governor

Usefull Apps
- for wireless tethering, the wifi driver doesn't support the native wifi tether. Thus, download and use latest version of wifiTether
- to turn screen off when in-call, use the great ProximitySensor app from Tom Reay. Available in the market
- to over-clock use setCPU at your own risk

Testers needed:
As I do not have a HTC Hero under my hand every time, I need testers to report back on each new build (along with a logcat, for each report). Follow me on Twitter http://twitter.com/loxdev

Please carefully read the thread and especially the first post to not report the same bugs every-time

Status:
- Camera: YES (by steelbytes)
- Sensors: YES (need tuning thought)
- USB Mount as mass storage: YES
- USB Tethering: YES (but won't turn off)
- Build in internet call: YES (well the option is here, need testing)
- GPS: YES
- Hudge APN list: YES
- Trackball: YES
- Bluetooth: YES
- Hardware keys: YES
- Wifi: YES
- Sound: YES
- EGL: YES (OpenGL ES 1.1-CM tweak by Elelinux)
- GSM network: YES
- 3G/GPRS/Edge: YES

Changelog (commits log on git hub):

o 30-01-2011 beta3:
- Fixes USB mount
- Better light sensors behavior
- FlyKernel 12-a from Erasmux
- All CyanogenMod enhancements since last release

o 27-01-2011 beta2:
- Fixes Phone's FC
(because of the recent implementation of the rotary incoming all widget)

o 26-01-2011 :
- Sensors, GPS, Camera, OpenGL ES 1.1-CM
- All CyanogneMod enhancements: Cmparts, DSPmanager, Theme chooser etc.

o 24-12-2010 - Wifi should be fixed now

o 23-12-2010 - First build

Just flashed it, booted and all things working that I use :)
Is quite a bit slower than cm6 though but that's understandable as it's pre-alpha.

Very good job LoxDev :)

Looks awesome, only problem I've found is that it doesn't like the Microbes live wallpaper much, but that's pretty minor. I have no experience with ROM development but I'd like to get involved, is this possible at all? Not to worry, probably too rubbish atm!

More things:
  • Checkboxes and radio buttons seem poorly anti-aliased, are they from a hdpi source?
  • The messaging and email icons are the old Froyo ones and don't show up great.

Mobile data works fine now that I've added the APNs, can't comment on the lack of the phone showing HSDPA as signal is rubbish my way and only EDGE...

Keep up the good work :)

I've just installed 7RC0 and I'm patient, able and willing to test.

Some tips so far:
turn off all animations on windows, because the performace of RC0 is deathly slow.
switch to LauncherPRO instead of ADW as it improves performance, marginally, by not having crap no one needs.

Again, much as has already been said with whats working and not.

As for mobile data, I just entered my APN details and it worked. Only shows as 3G though no H.

Do you need testers for the HTC Slide?  I'm willing to deal with poop till a stable release pops up, Lol.  More then able to report bugs on the Slide.

I'm having issues with the GPS on mine, it's turned on but Maps doesn't seem to want to use it. Do I need an APN for this? :/

AOSP only shows 3g and not a H the devs here add that in :-)

Bug: Gmail refreshes / restarts 3 seconds after opening an email.

I got stuck in Sent when trying to open an email with a png attachment I wanted to save - gmail just went back to sent after 2-3 seconds so I couldn't tap Download. Otherwise it seemed to work OK.

APN didn't appear automatically but 3G worked once I entered it manually.

Cool build! - OK performance.

Faster than I thought. GPS is not working. Widget for APN from market isn`t working (I don`t know that this has something with ROM or this is bug with widget). I saw in GIT that ROM use flykernel 12pre2 so I flash pre6 - little better performance in linpack.

Market 2.2.6 (and 2.2.7) crashes in cm7. 2.2.6 works in cm6.1 - market 2.12 works

Gmail 2.3.2 crashes after reboot (and also taps Back/refreshes list spontaneously when a msg is open).

the refreshed build is faster then the first build posted (both labeled RC0 pre-Alpha).

editing a lot of things like APNs or email signatures, is nearly impossible as the new keyboard squashes the edit box too much.  think this is when ever the edit control is multi line.  single line edits are ok?

opening dev settings and clicking show running processes causes phone to reboot, and then get stuck in a reboot loop. saw it briefly get as far as the desktop then back to the cyanogen logo.  popping battery didn't regain control! attaching logcat ...

Attached File  cm7.zip   28.06K   23 downloads.

I have put in a lot of work to get all the graphics looking good for our MDPI devices, and I wanna commit them up, but I am havign trouble syncing the files. I use the command:

repo init -u https://github.com/loxK/android_device_htc_hero.git -b gingerbread

and I get the error:

fatal: manifest 'default.xml' not available
fatal: manifest default.xml not found

Can anyone help?

Would this work on the Slide, or should I resume patience on a stable release?  Just curious, not assuming or asking ETAs or anything.  So stoked....Lol.
