Heya!
I haven't used mod privileges on Hacks&Mods in a while, sorry about that. /:
I've noticed the bunch of 'request' threads, and thought I'd organize them, as well as establish a future policy on posting requests in this forum.
Speaking of policies, I hope you all understand the limits for requesting from CyanogenMod developers. Given the huge amount of members, and judging by the existing topics, there are peeps out there, that don't quite understand. No harm there, but try to inform yourself. A few pointers:
- Keep the requests sensible and creative, they will be judged hard before acceptance.
- Silly requests will likely get politely ignored/laughed at/bashed at/lit on fire.
- Don't request apps added to the build, unless they are open source
... and so on. Hopefully you get the general picture.
NOTE TO STAFF: Feel free to add more info to this section.
Back on topic...
Whether you're here to post a new request now, or check on your old request, or just reading wondering what the hell I'm onto this time, please take note of the following + I could use your $0.02!
Coming up: brainstorming! So far I've got this..
- We can have one bucket thread for fresh ideas.
- If/when an idea gets rollin, they can be assigned separate threads.
- Use the issue tracker for popular requests.
- Use the rating system to determine request popularity
Looking forward to a lot of feedback!

If one of the H&M's is really good how does one go about suggesting it get added to the default ROM? I have seen references to using the issue tracker for this but am not certain... Thanks for the help!

Good question. Determining if a "hack/mod is good" is tricky, especially in a large community where a lot of people have a lot of suggestions. I would say, there are two factors:
1. Feasibility
2. Popularity (won't mention practicality, let's suppose popularity stems from it)
Around here, the order is usually opposite for various reasons, but never mind that at the moment.
The purpose of this thread right now is to figure out a way to organize H&Ms, but it could later become the "bucket" for request ideas. As I said, post rating system of this forum (+/-) could determine the popularity of an idea. I realize that's a long shot, but ideally it could work.
Back to your original question, if you have an idea for a good addition to the CM, you can visit the bug tracker and open a new "bug report". It isn't gonna be an actual bug report, but you will fill out the device information required, and write up a short summary of your idea. The title should have a clear remark that the issue being submitted is a suggestion for an enhancement (such as [ENHANCEMENT] type of tag). Add as many technical details as possible, preferably the entire solution.
Once such a report has been submitted, it will get marked appropriately (its status will change to Enhancement). The amount of stars it generates surely will determine its popularity, but the completeness of the submitted solution and the amount of technical details provided, will determine if (and when) it will get implemented in the official mod.
Of course, not everyone is capable of creating a hack/mod. The team prefers complete solutions, however sometimes people may have good ideas, others may know how to implement them, some others may know how to optimize them, and a lot of people are willing to test them out. The point is collaboration. What I'm trying to figure out here, is a way to organize it all, to make it easier on the development team, at the same time making it easier on the Bug tracker maintainers. It would be good if requests could get filtered and discussed in the forum, and only then submitted to the team, through the Bug tracker.

I like the idea of the Post Rating system to determine good [REQUEST] suggestions.
It looks to me like the H&M thread doesn't really see much action. For any voting system, you need to get high participation to be representative.
What is the next step? I've started to list some [REQUEST] here in the past two weeks, and from your suggestion I was thinking I would just start to put them in Bug Tracker, too.
But if we are going to work towards a new Rating system for Requests, I'd like to actively take part.

I understand it's tough for the dev's, doing what they do.. I'm simply wondering if anyone has thought about making the mod for the ZTE Score. If not, I would appreciate some consideration.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Good morning,
I do not know if I posted my request in the right section. I do not know if my question was proper and relevant for the forum but I did not get a single reply.
Maybe I put myself on the wrong forum for my knowledge and my needs. I am not an expert at all and other than knowing that my phone does not need to be rooted I am pretty illiterate.
Thank you for your attention.

Running CM9 Alpha on my phone smoothly
I have a few suggestions
Firstly, add option to show notification bar in fullscreen apps, or a way to pull down the notification bar
Then, there can be mor options on power menu
e.g. show the time, or shortcut to Setting menu
This can be much more convenient for us when we receive SMS while an app is running
BTW, have I posted it in the wrong tread?

I came here to post about the power menu too.
1. For example, I don't want the plane option there, because it would be too easy for whom stole my phone disable the internet.
2. And I'd like to take a screenshot pressing the home button + power, like in the stock rom!
It would be nice to have how to change the power menu itens and the screenshot shortcut. Thanks!
