Hello,

Since a few days I keep getting the SD damaged or not formatted message. Ive had the stable mod on my G1 for a while now and was always working fine until now. I tried formatting with my phone and also with the rom manager to partition it. No luck so far. Sometimes it doesnt even show the message and just not letting it be available in the sd menu. Ive never put out the sd card during the mod being on my phone. Ok so I tried it in my laptop with an sd adapter and it is just working fine. Ive formatted it a few times. Even with name change to SDCARD. No changes when I put it back in my phone. I tried another card and it can't find it anymore. It is very annoying as I cant download stuff anymore etc. I googled it and saw a topic where they said, connect it with usb and unmount it. But I cant? It just doesnt find the card anymore. Please anyone help!

Thanks!

Try going back to 5.0.8CM and see if the problem persist. I am guessing your reader is faulty.

Yes but how can I go back when it doesnt read my sdcard? Rom manager also needs my sd.

I have a similar issue.  C4/16GB Kingston card.  I used the Settings : Storage : Format to format it, and when I rebooted I would get errors like "damaged SD card" and the phone would not stay up and runninng.  Kept rebooting itself.

When I booted into Recovery and re-formatted it from there, it started to work well.

It also seems to be a bit finicky about the position of the card in the card reader.  There was one instance (well after I discovered the above and had since moved a bunch of data and apps onto the card) where I booted up and got a "Damaged SD card" warning.  After I shut the phone down and re-inserted the card, it came back up properly.  I was able to copy all of the data from the card via 'adb pull'.

So, try the Recovery partitioner, and try reloading the card into the phone.

Ok im hopeless now. When I start it half of my keys wont work. Like zero + back button etc. So I cant even go into my phone anymore. And I did a factory reset through recovery mode and im stuck and the setting up the phone. It asks to slide the keyboard back in but it doesnt react on keyboard sliding anymore... Worst part is I cant reinstall cyanogen as it wont read my sd cards either!!! Omg please help! :(

Formatting the memory card is the best option in this situation. You can do the following things in order to remove error without losing any content from the memory card.
Just format the memory card and without storing any data in it recover all the lost data with data recovery software mac.

Hey guys I was with the same problem with my G1, yesterday I tryed to read my SD Card with a "adapter" to USB, (because with a SD adapter dosn't work) I plugged it in my PC with XP OS, and I tryed to format it again (for the umpteenth time) and with my adapter I got it in the FIRST time, and oddly enough I was able to format it and I'm using it again without problems.
Try to quick format it with FAT32.

My "adapter" is the same of the picture in the link below:

Best regards.

Hi guys, I'm not sure if it is the same problem on my phone. The message which is displayed after booting states, that the SD Card is probably damaged. Then in the SD card settings, I can activate the SD card manually. Maybe this could work for you.
