First, I would like to thank Cyanogen team for the amazing work they do.

I am a french user of CyanogenMod for just a year now, as I got my Nexus One. The CM6.1.1 was just almost perfect for me (except one small bug about the widget in the status bar), and each new version have improved the fonctionalities and reduce the number of bugs.

Obviously I wanted to try Gingerbread so I have flashed the CM7 RC1 (and new Google Adds) without a full wipe to keek my applications and datas.
I am with ADSL french Free provider for wifi at home, and GSM/EDGE/HDPA Orange network.

As it solved my status bar widget problems, for the first time with updating it also created some annoying problems that I am going to describe.

The SIP integrated agent is not working at all, directly with Free provider parameters or with a pbxes.org gate (it is working with CSimple or Sipdroid, very well with wifi, quite bad with 3G enven with GSM narrow band only, directly with free and/or with pbxes).

I have problems to receive call (not with SIP, with standard GSM network). It rings, and when I take the line there is an incredible delay (about 20s) where the callers do not hear me. If he calls me just right after, it is working....

The application Sports.fr of the market is no longer working on 3G, as it is still working with wifi. It seems that the application needed to be updated, but I am not sure. It works perfectly going back to CM6.

The Google Voice recognition is no longer working at all (french version). Very annoying !

I have lost the possibility to have the battery % status in the upper bar, and also the dB of the signal (instead of the 4 bars), and the 720p video recording, but I suppose it is going on for the next update.

Gingerbread is told to be faster than Froyo. As for me, I did not see any difference.

Finally, I went back to CM6.1.1, as the CM7 add only better graphics interface, but quite a lot of annoying bugs.

If you have any idea to solve some of this issue, I am listening

To be complete, I have to add this about the way I have updated to CM7 from CM6.1.1 stable.

I just flash the CM7 package from the Cyano Recovery.

I had problems with CM6 Google Apps remaining applications. I uninstall the ones I could (not possible for Gmail for instance). The market has just dissapeared for instance.

I flashed the Gingerbread dedicated Google add-ons, and I had Gmail & the Market back working, but also all the bugs I have described.

Do you think a good way to fix my problems would be from my CM6.1.1 backup to wipe the cache and flash CM7 and Gigerbread Google add-on ?

Going from CM6 to CM7 without wiping is not recommended. There are too many changes that can cause issues (and we have seen a lot of those issues).

So you can keep all your apps and app data, use an app like Titanium Backup to backup all those apps. Just be careful you don't back up any system settings. Then when you wipe make sure you also format /system. This is not something that is done automatically with ROM Manager or with the Factory Reset. You have to go under Mounts and Storage and format it in there in Clockworkmod recovery. If you are running Amon_RA, you will need to search for temasek's extreme wipe.

I would assume that most of your problems will be resolved if you do this. As to the battery percentage, it isn't included in RC1, but has been implemented in the nightlies (which also contain bug fixes for bugs found in RC1). The dBm hasn't been implemented yet, and I haven't seen any indication that it will be implemented. And supposedly 720p was waiting for the official OTA which was released last week so they could hack the drivers to get it to work. There hasn't been any word on this being included, but it was implied a while back (probably a month ago) that it was still planned.

If you try again, I would recommend giving the nightlies a shot instead of RC1. There have been a ton of improvements since then.

OK, thanks for the answer.
I thought that the Nightlies were only before Release Candidate or Stable, I realise that there is Nigthlies between different RC's versions, so I will try.

I have done a wipe factory reset (from recovery), and re-install the last nighty build (Android 2.3.3).

Now the Voice recognition is working, but it is the only issue that has been solved.

The worse issue (black screen and delay when taking a call) is still there, and it seems that a lot of user have it.

Hope you will find the bug soon  :P

I don't understand neither why the integrated SIP agent don't work at all (it seems to work, but after starting the call it is said that the number is not reachable, as the same number perfectly work with Csimple or Sipdroid).

A factory reset doesn't always cut it. Formatting /system is the recommended route by the CM devs.

And dewonkificator provides a bandaid fix of the black screen issue (aka wonkiness). It can be found on xda.

"Goog" English? Haha...  ;)

Anyway, I will try to reword it (English is the only language I speak fluently). When you perform a Factory Reset/Data Wipe, it only wipes the /data partition. The /system partition remains untouched. This is where cyanogenmod is installed to. This partition also needs to be wiped. You can do it in clockworkmod recovery (most people run this) by going to the Mounts and storage menu and select "Format /system". Another way to do it is to search the forum for a script by temasek called Extreme Wipe. This will wipe everything (except for your sd card) so you will have a completely new install.

And I am on my phone, so I can't get you the link for the dewonkificator very easily, but if you google it, it should be one of the top results.

OK, thanks again for the reactivity. A member I know in Canada also helped me (by mail) and I found this small app yesterday evening.

It seems that it is working, so I am not going to wipe everything (including system) right now except if I have still call reception problems.

As it is not really clean, I will wipe clean (with system format, as I saved also my apps with Titanium) when the CM7 stable will be available (I hope with 720p recording).

Do you think that the SIP Agent would work if I am doing a complete clean wipe (with formatting system) ?

Thanks again, this cyano rom and this forum is just great.

another question:

How titanium backup is working ?

When I did a wipe/factory reset, it was able to find the apps saved (directly, without reinstalling titanium) . If I format system, can I restore my apps after anyway ?

I'm not too sure with the SIP Agent. I haven't played around with SIP calling yet, but I have noticed numerous posts about sip calling. Some browsing through the forum might give you the info you need on that.

I'm not too sure what you meant with the titanium backup question... are you saying that your apps showed up after a wipe without you restoring them? If it was over a period of time, it may be related to google saving your information (although, I have never had this feature work on my phone, but I know other have). If it was immediate, my guess would be that the wipe somehow failed, because there shouldn't be anyway for those apps to come back unless you restore them through Titanium Backup.

Fellow friends,

How is everyone doing?!

Well, I was running CM6.1.1 and did the update throughout Rom Manager, but I was not able to upgrade. Then I did the regular download, put on the SD card, and flash from SD. But for my surprise it did not work either.

I was able to download the Nightly built's full3.zip and then update to the full7.zip. But it stopped working.

I then, after many tries, went back to stock and for some reason I can not install any other CM7.
I can install the CM 6.1.1 back, but not the CM7.

After installing I only get the "X" screen.

If there is any process to fully wipe or any other thing I should be doing I will accept help.

Please let me know.

See you all later... THANKS!!!!

Thank you... I'll try what I saw in the previously posts and give you all a feedback. I'll try to install the new nightly built "cm_passion_full-13.zip"

Thanks all of you.

Ok... new update!!!

I follow all the instructions... but UNSUCCESSFULLY so far!!!
After about 5 min, I am still stuck on the "X" screen.

I wiped, I format the system part. I even formated my whole SD card but so far no success.

I don't know what is going on with my N1... I've done this process since last year when I first got it.
This is really frustrating... don't know what to do anymore.

My SD card is formated, I'm using CWR 2.5.1.4 and tried to flash full-13.zip from the Nightly built.

Appreciate all you help... but I guess I am doomed on the CM  :(

UPDATE: I noticed that when I am installing CM 6.1.1 the status bar on CMR movies until the end and installs CM6.1.1, but when I do that with the CM7 or any nightly builts it does not fulfill the bar... Do you all think that is the problem?

What is the process you are doing to flash? Because I just flashed #13 today after a full wipe. I formated /system then I went back to the main menu and selected the Factory Reset/Data Wipe. Then I selected build #13 and installed it, followed by the latest gapps (I think it was dated today 20110307), followed by two additional things I flash (a2sd and Titanium Backup).

I think what danger-rat was hinting at with gapps, is that if you happen to flash an older gapps from CM6, it can cause issues with your phone. They are not compatible with CM7.

EDIT: And I don't think I have ever had the progress bar work while installing CM... whether that be CM6 or CM7. But it does work with gapps.

I tried to install Gapps tinny "gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip", downloaded from cyanogenmod.com but is not installing correctly... I'm guessing.

For some reason is not working... As I said... the progress bar on CWR is not going to the end as it goes when I install CM 6.1.1... I just install CM 6.1.1 from scratch and I'm doing the downloads to "full-13.zip - nightly built" and the Gapps from CMW. Lets hope it works now.
