I have been having the same issue on most of the newer builds. Just push the gps.vision.so file from nightly #4 to /lib/hw (there's an explanation of how to do this on xda, but I don't have the link right now)

The below link explains it, I have updated the gps.vision.so file but it didn't fix it, I'll try flashing my radio too.

I had the same issue.  I flashed the new radio via fastboot.  Right off the bat the lovely GPS symbol showed up for me and seems to be working well.

I just finished flashing the radio and GPS works again, yay!

Side note, how did GPS get broken with the old radio?

The only way I have been able to get gps working on RC2 is to use both the gps.vision.so file from build #4 in combination with the new radio. I don't have adb setup where I am now - could somebody here start an issue on the tracker?

That solves one problem, but possibly brings another: increased battery drain.

Everything on RC2 is working fine for me only issue is the Hebrew language that someone posted earlier along with the keyboard automatically deleting the first key pressed in a sms, other than that New radio works fine, yes there is more battery drain with it but the app Network on the market should help you with that in which you can switch between the network type and lets you turn off the radio when not in use and for those who keep having issues with it have you tried fixing permissions with Rom Manager?

Oh yea one more thing is RC2 the latest or is it nightly 14? both came out around the same time so not quite sure.

RC2 is the image linked in this post.

I've been using the new radio for quite awhile and I haven't noticed any worse battery life. I heard that you might have to flash it twice. If you're getting bad battery, try wiping and flashing the same radio again.

I can confirm that I was having this GPS issue on RC2 with the stock Bell DZ radio and a radio upgrade immediately solved the problem.

The new radio should actually increase the battery life. I have found about a 20% increase with the 26.06.02.27. However keeps these things in mind when flashing radios and roms:

1) Everytime you flash a new ROM, you will find the battery life to be short for a while. This is because your phone will "re-learn" the battery capacity. I found this on nightlies, usually by the time the next ROM comes out, my phone finally lasts a long time, but after the flash it usually eats it up.

2) Reset your Battery Stats in ClockWorkMod (under Advanced), this just resets the battery like stated above. Do this just after flashing the radio but not updating the ROM.

#0 I've also heard when worse comes to worse, try wiping the dalvik-cache (but I do this every now and then just to keep things clean). And I think perhaps just wiping the cache/data period may help, I just read that somewhere on XDA.

Anyhow, there is mixed reviews on all radios really. Depending where you are, and on the particular device, it is hard to say how the device will react. I have increased signal and increased battery life, but a little weaker Wi-Fi.

I am not sure why, but CM7 just doesn't like the older radios. I am pretty sure the team is aware of this bug, as it has been a big issue for the vision. But I mean the more people to post their problem with it, the more information hopefully they discover to resolve this.

I flashed the new radio and installed the new gps.vision.so file also.  I have no GPS signal and it even states "NO GPS location provider was found on this device" when I tried my My Tracks application.

Any ideas?

same here, GPS works well on RC2 with the new radio, but broken again in nightly #15, 17 & 18. (it will actually work on a fresh boot, but after toggling it off and back on, GPS will be completely gone like there was no GPS devise at all, no icon or anything. Reboot will fix it)

I too had some issues with my Desire Z, CM7 RC2: GPS worked unpredictably and made Andropas (a Finnish bus schedule app) crash. Getting the GPS library from nightly #4 seems to have fixed this.
