Every time I'm in an application and use the Home button to get back to the launcher screen, ADW restarts. All my desktop apps are gone and it has the stars for the action buttons. But after a few seconds they all reappear. I tried using the CM setting to lock ADW in memory but it still does it. Was wondering if anyone is having the same problem, and has a solution?  Thanks.

oh btw, I'm running CM 7 RC2

it is most likely still a memory problem.  the problem that the droid has been facing is a huge lack of memory to the point where i've been trimming down apps as much as possible.  i ended up going back to the stock launcher and it seemed to have helped, but unfortunately i think adw is still getting closed as it still runs out of memory...

Ah I see. Do you know of a way to add more memory? I saw something in the CM settings about compcache. Saying you can add more virtual memory or something? Locking it in memory has seemed to help it a little bit, but runnning bigger apps it still does it. Thanks for the info tho.

theres no way to add more physical memory to the phone without some major modifications.  (i would think you might as well buy a new phone if you're going to try to add physical memory)
you can add memory via compcache...  people have used swappa as well as compcache.  some say it works, there are downsides with battery drain, compcache is controversial, some say it leads to more problems than anything else...  if you search the nightly thread, you can a variety of opinions about compcache.
*edit* its similar to the discussion going on here: http://forum.cyanoge...losing-quickly/

You will need to install another kernel, compcache is broken on the stock kernel

I am also having a few issues with ADW. Every time I open the draw it has to relist and rebuild the list of all the apps starting with the ones in internal memory. It gets annoying.

If it needs a new kernal, I am going to need a download link.

I posted about my wild ride with the nightlies and RC2 recently, and the two big takeways are:

1.  Clean install solved some crazy behavioral problems I was having, and
2.  This fix for screen redraw issues from Froyo days worked excellently well here, too:

Create the file /data/local.prop with the following line in it:

ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1

I used vi in terminal, but you could create such a file on your computer, move it to the SD card, then copy it into the /data folder.  Reboot, and you get the double-rainbow of no screen redraw issues, and available RAM remains high.

Give 'er a go.  A few other folks in the nightlies thread reported it helped them, too.

I tried this, seems to work great.  :)

I created the file in /data using Root Explorer, then long pressed on it, Open in Text Editor, and type the line, save, reboot.

Thanks again lonndoggie.

Thanks! I installed one of the new kernels, and compcached it to 18% and downloaded swapper 2. It seems to have worked so far.
