Is this really getting held up by HTC not wanting to release the kernel source for 120 days?

I would assume so.  It sucks and unless lawyers get involved there's not much we can do about it.  I don't think HTC gives a crap that they are in violation of the GPL.

HTC Thunderbolt may get updated to Gingerbread sometime in Q2 but not only that but a slew of performance tweaks and subtle feature improvements. I wonder the issues you may run into if CM7 was available/download before hand; since, HTC sounds like they are bundling HTC Performance Updates and Gingerbread all in one?

I personally own HTC Thunderbolt and a growing fan of rooting plus custom roms so can see reason for the concern. I love the job CM has done with their roms and can't wait for CM7 come out for Thunderbolt but wonder if I wait after official being update to 2.3 what issuses would arise when getting CM7?

I was just coming to post this. Can't wait for some CM love on this thing. I'll donate again once I start seeing some movement on this. Not even in the device list yet.

My question is why no official sub-forum for the TBolt yet?  :(

It's been a few hours since the kernel source was released. I think we can give them a little time to get the sub forum up and add the Tbolt to the device list... I'm wanting this as much as anyone else but give them a break. They support a bunch of devices already. They have lots of work to do.

The kernel source code was released today.  Several devs were waiting on this to finalize their rom and the ports.  Slayer is porting cm7 to the t-bolt per his postings.

It doesn't matter what htc releases when.  There's already some gingerbread roms for the tb starting to pop up.  If htc actually releases any fixes (which they certainly will) they'll just get integrated into CM and every other rom out there.  Once rooted, there's NO REASON to worry about ota updates unless you are running the stock rom.

My TB should arrive tomorrow, big step up from my Droid 1. Definitely want an AOSP stock Android build on it, but I'm going to tough it out with Sense for a week or so. That way I get a good baseline on just how much CM will improve it. :)

The main reason i bought a Thunderbolt is Cyanogen , i still have my Droid X but when Cyanogen comes to the bolt it's gonna be my number one phone . Can't wait , i keep watching Cyanogen videos on youtube to get my fix .

Using LauncherPro at least got rid of a lot of the annoying Sense stuff. I'm using it as a stopgap until CM is released. Playing with a couple of the other ROMs over on XDA as well.

I feel the same way as alot of you guys.  I had the eris which still does not have offical CM support (for the record it did have some top quality ports), upgraded to the Droid X (which I loved) but never got CM support, and bought the Thunderbolt because I figured it was a shoe in to recieve CM support :) I have been checking the CM forums and the XDA forums ever few hours to see when and if we are offically getting it and will be extatic when we finally do :)

I'm a little discouraged that there is still no ThunderBolt sub forum category yet... I would have thought the admin would have at least given us a place to gather and wait lol... Sorry for my impatience admin ;-) the best is always worth waiting for...

I'm just curious as to if a sub forum catagory has been considered..? Of course I am aware there is no support for TB at this time but a gathering place for us to watch for progress updates.  Not to be needy.. I know everyone with CM is very busy.. just putting it out there

An unofficial rule of sorts around here has been 'no rom, no forum'

You can blame the SGS users  :P
