I flashed RC3 and now when ever I try to install or update apps from Android Market my N1 will simply reboot as the app tries to install.
So I reverted to a backup I had of RC2 and now it will still reboot when I try to install or update apps from the market.

Any ideas?

Have you tried looking through your Settings -> Applications, and looking for the app itself so you can delete it entirely? I had this problem before and it turned out that there was a conflict with a "broken" version that was still on my phone even though I thought I had un-installed it already.

I found that Titanium Backup usually causes this problem, accidentally, of course when trying to back up the app.

Hope this helps.

I think you may have misunderstood, this happens with any new app I try install or any app I try to update.
I have also tried to restore backed up apps with TB with the same result of my N1 simply rebooting.

The only fix for this that I've heard that works is a full wipe. Have you tried fix_permissions or clearing cache and dalvik?

One of the cause is flashing TB after a wipe. Once booted, anything u install or restore will most likely to soft reboot your n1.

Thanks Temasek, what solved it for me was a complete wipe using Calkulin's "Format all" flash utility, which I use for my tablet.

After that I reflashed a backup of RC2. This all started when I flashed (Via recovery) RC3, GAPPS, and DTA2SD in that order.
I was hoping it would just be the same as when I flashed RC2 the same way but I got caught in a bootloop upon rebooting.
Could it be that DTA2SD 2.7.5.2 does not work with RC3?

Because with RC2 all I did was flash RC2, GAPPS, and DTA2SD in that order via revocery with no wipe and it worked nicely.

Hiya Bass,

Yeah tried FXP with no luck. The complete wipe worked for me, then I flashed a backup.
The utility in the above link will wipe everything from your device, (System, Boot, Data, Davlik, Cache, etc etc..)
I'm staying away from RC3 until I can research as to whether DTA2SD will work with it.

Thanks anyway.

T!

OMFG! That format all zip somewhat familiar! I open up and check and found its the same as my Extreme Wipe file! Only difference is I format twice per partition and that script format once.

Though its only a simple script and I know anyone can do it........but..........not many like me though of formatting 4 partitions (system, data, cache and boot).....more of the boot which is rather overkill. :(

Bah....maybe I failed to copyright the file! .... joking lol. :)

This is internet. :( :( :(

Haha, don't be upset buddy, great minds think alike.
Calkulin is well known for his ROMS for EVO.

I actually had a similar script of my own, but with single format, rather than your double...   xD

Well, that sounds exactly like what happened to me last week.

Turns out, after flashing one Nightly and then DTA2SD, I started getting soft reboots whenever I tried to install any app or update an installed one.

Apparently, after looking and asking around in the DTA2SD topic in XDA, someone told me that sometimes flashing DTA2SD using CWR3+ can cause the EXT2 partition to become corrupted. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this seems to be formatting the ext2 partition.

I tried a lot of things, from restoring the previous nand backup, so doing a2sd repair, reinstall, and everything.

I had to backup, re-partition my SD and then re-install everything all over again.

Well oddly enough I just flashed to RC4 from RC2, GAPPS, DTA2SD, (in that order) via recovery and everything went smooooth! Gmail is force closing on start up but fix perms fixed that issue upon a reboot. Other than that my main concern was dta2sd causing issues with this build, but no, none so far.

Android market works nicely also, so I'm happy now!
Edit: Forgot to mention I flashed CWM 2.5.1.4 before doing anything else.
:D

I'm having this problem as well, posting here since the market install was the original issue but maybe deeper than that:

N1.  Full wipe, loaded CM7 RC1 & DT 2.5.4.3 (beta), using CWM 3.0.0.5, didn't reload any data, tried to install from market and ran into this same problem.  Any app from the market or using TB to restore an app, reboot.

Tried again wipe & load with Amon RA but same problem (had read that CWM might not be wiping properly, or compatibility with cwm3)

Then tried downgrading DT to the old 2.7.5.2 (despite the fact that many people reported the beta working, I just needed my dang phone to work!), same issue whether wipes and loads done via CWM3 or AmonRA.

Downgraded CWM to 2.5 (good grief, is it 2009 again by now?), still same reboot.

Used Calkulin's full wipe linked above, just loading CM7 RC1, new gapps, DT 2.7.5.2, and market was uhhh, gone?  Checked TB and it was frozen for some reason... defrosted, tried to install an app, bam- reboot.  I noticed that Calkulin's wipe did not wipe the SD as I had thought it would, so am guessing it did not wipe the ext4 on the sd as well.

SO.  Backup SD card, using CWM 2.5 full re-partition of SD card.  Check ext3, yep, not going to mess with 4 since we're in downgrade mode, re-copy everything back to the SD main partition, not the ext3 or data yet, reload DT 2.7.5.2, reboot, and market was there, installed a missing app - no problem.  Reboot, just because, install another app from the market, REBOOT.  Frak.

Phone booted, from terminal in OSX, a2sd reinstall, a2sd zipalign, a2sd cachesdreset, a2sd check and everything looks good, reboot, install from market 3 apps: no prob.

<deep breath> reboot, install from market: w00t no reboot!

Back into recovery for a backup before I reload all apps and data via TB, reboot, and stuck on the X during boot FRAK!

Waited 15 minutes, yanked the battery, reboot, and loaded, CAN install apps without a reboot, but terrified to reboot the damn phone of course... any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated?

I still have the same problem with (in order)
  • full wipe data, cache, dalvik
  • CyanogemMod 7.1 stable
  • s2E
  • gapps (2011-08)
what are the conclusions that have come after your experience? there is a procedure that solves the problem?

I can not install any applications because of the reset

TIA,
Marco

I'm also having this issue, but with 7.1.0.. I tried a complete wipe and reinstall, even repartitioning my SD card..

its become such a problem, I'm considering flashing back to stock and forgetting about cyanogenmod since its been going on since my first 7.x nightly... no matter what gapps I try, stable/nightly install, etc... this is making my phone useless because any gapp that runs reboots my phone...

Guys this issue has to do with the ext4 partition on your card to move your apps to your SD.  When you format your external sd card, make sure you do an ext3 not a ext4.  If you are using any built in app like Rom manager to do the format for you, it will default to ext4 which will make your phone reboot every time when trying to install anything on to it.  Not sure why this affects the Nexus but it does.  Format the card to ext3 and then move your apps with S2E and you'll be good to go.  I spent a whole day figuring this out and it boiled down to the format type...

I know a lot of people who are successfully running ext4 on their sdcard. Seeing that you are running ClockworkMod, if you are running v3.x or v5.x, it could be related to that. Because those versions have been known to cause corruption issues on the sdcard. That problem is negated if you use v2.x or switch to Amon_RA when you create the partition.
