Given the recent explosion of nightly users, I understand your need for a place to discuss them, and/or ask if other users are having similar issues as you...this is that place

  • DO NOT: Post to the bug tracker
  • DO NOT: Open another thread (I will enforce this with temp bans)
  • DO NOT: Think of this as official forum support; this thread will be strictly user to user support. Don't expect CM-dev help.
** These CyanogenMod builds are highly experimental and unsupported.
**
** Please refrain from submitting bug reports for any issues
** you may encounter while running one of these builds.
**
** Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
** cause of male impotence.

cyanogen mod7 full 61 nightly from 27 April 2011

I'm having issues with the android market when ever trying to purchase an app it produces the error

android.vending.com has closed with an error

this happens regardless of whether I have restored a clean cyanogen install with clockworkmod or not, and it is present in build 56 and build 60 from my testing

anyone have an idea of how to fix or is anyone else experiencing this problem?

device: Advent Vega
app2sd: yes

Great to see the nightly builds appearing. Would it be possible to include all currently supported languages by android 2.3? Right now only major languages are included in the vega build. On the other hand the passion build contains all the supported languages. At this time I'm looking for Hungarian, but I'm sure other languages would be also welcomed.

Thanks, Rudolf

seriously no install guide though?
and i dont mean "boot to recovery wipe install zip"
i found the answer elsewhere but i only ever use cm rom and thought they might provide a rooting and recovery install guide.
sorry if it sounds like im hating because im not i have much respect for what these devs do in there free time for no profit,
after the 2+ years ive been running cm i have become used to only using this site and rarely have to go elsewhere.
the bottom line is i FEEL SAFER following cm supported guides

I found the guide on cyanogenmod wiki but I think it should be included in the first post and the first post of the stable mod (when released)  sorry for my rant earlier

Only bug I found was not being able to connect to a pptp vpn using the same settings as my htc desire running cm7.0.3
connected to the same wifi as my desire and my laptop and both were able to connect. The only notification I got was "unable to connect.  Would you like to retry?"
I'm running the 05112011 nightly linked to by ciwrl in the first post above.

With the wifi on my Vega it will connect every time I restore the original firmware very reliable,
With cm7 I can connect to the androidAP of my HTC desire with no problems,
But when connecting to an actual broadband wifi point It refuses to connect or continually scans connects then disconnects.
occasionally I can connect and have no problems, so my solution is to change the wifi sleep policy to "never "
This will kill the battery but at least I don't have to spend 20 minutes getting a connection every time I turn the screen on

I have been happily running CM7 for a while now and am very grateful for all the hours of dedication put into this project by the Cyanogen team...thank you all!
Yesterday morning I was surprised to receive a notification to th effect that "there is a new ROM update available". The process was very well engineered and ran quickly and smoothly.....you can hear the "but" coming now!  When the tablet re-booted all looked well at first except that the GAPPS package, although selected,
had not been included. Then I discovered that ROM-manager was powerless and clockwork recovery would do nothing. OMG - almost bricked here!
Anyway after several frustrating hours attempting to re-install ROM-manager or Clockwork recovery without success I finally found the solution, which as is often the cas turned out to be very simple. I used ADB, restore, and recover....just look at the ADB help file. This was able to bring up clockwork recovery and then restore the image that I had saved at the start of the update process.
So now I am back where I was yesterday with a working "nightly #72" and wondering where to go next.
Hoping this post may help someone else in trouble....

Regards to all,

Mike.

Hi Mike

I also got the new rom update to 84. But I did  not have your problems as I came from 80 and already had Gapps on my SD card so used Rom Manager
to install from SD and carried on from there. Problem I have is that  the new update 85 has no Wifi and so I am back on 84. Gapps can be got from this site and I would advise that anyone wanting to use the Nightlies download and add it to SD card and they should have no problems in future with updating through Rom Manager.

HI
Updated to Nightly 85 and no Wifi. Back on 84 which I find usable for daily use. Hope the
Wifi issue is fixed for next build.

HI Douglas,
Many thanks for the reply - so it appears that my problem happened because of the difference between my previous installation (#72) and the new one.
This makes me wonder which level I can safely jump to. It seems a bit silly doing each one, but since you found #80 alright I suppose that should be
safe enough. BTW I have also had a look at "VegaComb" out of interest. It looks great, but seems a bit slow, and there are a number of functions that
are not yet operating properly. However, the developers are always working at these releases so no doubt it will all be working soon!

Mike.

Hi

Just updated to N98 from N97 and Market playing up again. Showed all my apps ok but would not download any (this item is not available).
Then on 2nd attempt (No items to download) as before. Other than the market I find this Nightly very stable.and fast.

Keep up the good work devs.

Hi

Me again, now on N100 and Market fault back again as in previous builds (No Items to download).
Otherwise no other problems so far. Still rate this as the fastest although I do miss the Vegacomb features.

Keep up the good work guys, still the best rom out there for the Vega in my opinion and I have tried them all.

Does anyone get "no downloads from market" and also errors when trying to search for apps?
Is there a way to fix this?
The nightlies are becoming more stable from my experience I am looking forward to a stable release

Hi
Yes I get that sometimes, but only after first install of the nightly, when I reboot it is ok to download from the Market.
The only problem I have, and this has been the case all along from N80, is that when I tap "my apps" in the market it shows
them all ok and I can download 2 or 3 and then I get (Not registered in market) against all the rest and then if I come out
and go back into the market "my apps" I get (there is nothing to download)but I can run search and then download them again individually.

Hi All

Now on N106 and the Market bug has been fixed. Only problem I have is with
WiFi. I have 2 Routers, 1 connected as  a slave to my Virgin  BB super hub
and, where before it was giving the best connection, now it  will not hold the
connection ,keeps scanning /disconnecting.

Installed N115 via Rom Manager/ClockworkMOD, everything appeared normal, but now rebooting gets to CM7 static logo and no further. adb can push files, but attempting adb shell results in /system/bin/sh not found... Is there hope to use the backup I produced prior to installing this update or do I now have a brick?

Fixed by reflashing original vega rom, now have issues with device partitions but slowly coming back to life... :D
