In terminal emulator (start from app drawer):
mkdir /mnt/sdcard/market-download-cache
su
cd /cache
mv download download.bak
ln -s /mnt/sdcard/market-download-cache download
ls -ahl
(last command should show the symlink in the listing)
Good luck,
Edwin

So the question is now that I did that and everything is done, (and working fine, I guess?) what did I just do? Rather than doing it just because it was posted here it would be very helpful (at least for the people who don't know much about terminal or code) to know what it is we're actually doing. I am not trying to be a Dinc and complain or anything . I just thought as a community we should help each other get better so the overall android experience is improved. Thus strengthening the android community as a whole. Then maybe we might have a fighting chance against corporate manufacturers and service providers .... Just something to think about
Here's to android!

You created a new download cache, but this time on SD-card. Then you replaced the original cache in memory by a symbolic link to the cache on SD. In essence you fooled the Market app by making it think it's using its regular cache in memory, where it's actually using a file on SD.

I've had the above mentioned problem, so i tried the fix. No luck. So i explored the file directories listed in the fix and found my cache/ directory is empty. Unless i'm misreading this, it seems as though it should contain a download/download.bak path (or something similar).
Is there a reason my download.bak file would be gone?

However, I did find a solution to my problem...
I was wanting to buy Battleheart but the Android Market wouldn't let me download it (currently running CM7 on a Samsung Captivate, latest nightly build as of this post). The only way I was able to download and install it was by using the Amazon Appstore. Ran into zero problems and the game runs GREAT. Hope this helps someone out.
