Smart Dial (or T9 dialer or call it whatever you like :)) would be great addition to CM overall functionality. There are a ton of third party dialers on the market but they tend to get bloated overtime and almost all of them misses some functionality (like inability to dismiss missed call - didn't find one that can do that). Using search option within contact tab works great but it is just to many clicks to get wanted result. It would be great if we can get solid built in solution that can be relied upon

I agree... The standard CM dialer is a bit raw IMHO

I'm surprised this hasnt been added yet tbh, it would be awesome

ok well after some search there is this open sourced smart dialer back from the 1.x ways

http://www.java2s.co...lin.android.htm

so there is a start

also cm is using a modified version of wycontacts which was originally built for 2.1

and the main reason for this request is that we cannot use any other dialer with cm, because notification cannot be disabled for stock dialer.

+1 from me too. Smart dialing and an hw accelerated browser are the only two things that sometimes make me get back to Sense roms.

This is actually the only thing I really miss, I hate going trough my enormous contact list. I could install a quick dialer but I just want it from the contacts list

if we had source for any of miui's stuff it wouldnt be too difficult but we dont so I'm not entirely sure. I posted a few back with a link to source for a smart dialer I just dont have the time or enough java know how to port it to cm

You can access the page using Google cache and download the apk. This dialer is awesome but dial pad looks too small on my SGS. I hope dev won't abandon this project.
