I did a install of 7.1 RC over 7.0.3 with dalvik cache wipe only. Everything seems fine except one annoying  bug. When screen goes on, it never goes off until I lock the phone by pressing power button. Anyone with similar problem maybe?

One step forward is (for now) that I didn't noticed any blank/black screens that I had with 7.0.3 after few days of using the phone. But that still can happen so... BR

UPDATE: Also, default weather widget doesn't auto-refresh (it never did with whatever ver of cyanogen mod I had) and it often shows data for random location in 100km circle ?!? Frustrating? Yes, a lot.
When I open my picture gallery and I wan't to share a pic, I got plenty of app choices from top to the bottom of the screen. The app choice menu is not scrollable, so I'm stuck with the apps curently showing on the screen. Before I could choose picasa, but it didn't work (authorization always failed), now I can't even see picasa... What a fail. Try to rotate the screen horizontally and u can see only few app choices for share, the ones that fit in the screen - scroll? Not possible. Is this UI or Useless? I don't say this is cyanogen mod mistake but it should be considered and fixed.
Still no trace of blank screens, few days after update.

I have this problem with RC1, take a look:
http://ultraphoto.or...i8o0o9vjohh.png

You can see that drawer on 7.0.3 is ok, and drawer on 7.1 RC1 is low color quality. Anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks!

Get another launcher?

No problems here.

I have a special case of a blank screen bug. (HTC Desire GSM, Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1). The problem has been isolated to having earbuds plugged in, music playing, and having both screen on and screen off animations enabled. The problem is such that sometimes waking the screen will cause the screen to flash on, then blank to black quickly. However, the backlight seems to be on still, and unlock vibrations can be felt. Pressing the power button again will turn off the backlight/screen. Waking the screen again usually solves the problem (sometimes doing this more than once is required to fix it).

Today, I managed to isolate it further by turning off both screen on and screen off animations. This configuration did not yield the problem as described. I then re-enabled the screen off animation, and tested further. The problem could not be replicated.

So, in my case (and possibly others), there is an issue with the screen on animation (and perhaps its use in conjunction with the stock music player).

Hope this helps some.

Hi guys, I'm new here. Go easy please :)

After completely losing faith in HTC's ability to release Gingerbread for my Desite, I took the plunge and put CyanogenMod 7.10 RC1 on my phone, using unrevoked recovery image. All went well (apart from having to find an HTC ADB driver that was never mentioned anywhere in the instructions). It turns out the HTC driver you need comes with HTC Sync which they just told you to remove a few steps earlier... :)

I have a few comments about the mod though...

1) The unlock animation seems a little jerky. I slide the unlock wheel to the right, it seems to jerk to the home screen rather than being smooth.
2) The wireless and signal meters in the notification area keep changing colour between white and green. Not sure why. I'd prefer they stay green please.
3) The email app seems a little buggy and limited. Is this a stock Android app or a custom one? It keeps telling me in the status area that I have x unread emails. I look in my mails, and I don't. It also seems incapable of automatically connecting to my hotmail account like the old one did in my HTC stock Desire image. Can this be replaced? Any suggestions?
4) The phone app looks nicer than the one that came with the phone which is great, but the dialler seems limited. On my old phone I could start typing a name into the number dialler and it would pop up a list of names from my contact list that matched what I had typed. The new dialler doesn't. I either dial a number, or switch to the contact list and browse the contacts. Again, is this the stock android dialler? Any suggestions on a replacement (if indeed it can be replaced)?.
5) The stock HTC software had the ability to link your contacts to facebook friends. It worked quite well and used that persons facebook profile picture on your phone. Any way to do that with the CyanogenMod stuff?

Any other must haves for my shiny new CyanogonMod 7.1 install?

For Point 2 : Yes, Green is better as you're google account is authentified

For point 5 : You can do it if you set facebook id in "Accounts" and sync. contacts

A must have from my POV is the Rover theme which include a battery meter and E/3G/H signal (the other themes don't ... show this in France)

Problem solved after installing ADW Launcher from Market. CM7 ADW Launcher is not good.

Try Go Contacts, it has a nice in-built dialler which does the key substring search thing. You should be able to change the dock shortcut for phone on your launcher to launch that dialler instead of the stock one. I use Go Launcher and Go SMS too and can't speak highly enough of them.

I have issues with C2DM push messages. For example whatsapp doesn't work fine at all. Messages get lost.

Hi Santanas_g... my issue is not that they are green, but that sometimes they are green and sometimes white... why do they keep changing?

Regarding number 5... not sure you understand my meaning. I don't want to add a facebook account. (Facebook doesn't show as an option in Accounts anyway). What I want is to link my existing contacts (synched via MS Exchange) to their facebook profiles. The contact list on the stock HTC software could do this. I want this so it pulls their profile picture down, and also keeps birthdays/extra phone numbers up to date. This was one of the best features of the HTC contacts app.

Lastly, sladflob, GoContacts is ace... thank you.

Same here, although I haven't noticed any messages getting lost (then again, if you don't get them... ;)). But it takes ages before getting the messages - yesterday I received a message around 11pm that was sent at noon that day.

And since we're talking all kinds of different problems here; Has anyone had CM7.1 switching back to the default keyboard? I haven't discovered a pattern yet, but every now and then when I want to type something the Gingerbread keyboard shows up in stead of Swype. It's easy to fix - go into settings and enable Swype again in keyboard setting, then choose Swype as the default keyboard when longpressing on a textfield - so it's not a huge problem, but it's a bit annoying when you just want to do a quick reply...  <_<

When the bars are green it means your phone is connected to the Google servers (and logged in to your account) and information (mail, calender, contacts, market, etc.) can be exchanged between the servers and your phone.
When the bars are white you still have a working internet connection (for browsing, using apps that require internet, etc.) but your phone is not connected to the Google servers. What you'll see is that most of the time the bars are green, and if they are white and you'll open the market for instance, you'll probably see the bars switching from white to green.

Hopefully this explains it :)

I have the problem when i activate the screen of the desire it goes off directly. After a few times repeating the screen stays on again. Before RC1 i never had this problem.

A quick question about the nightly builds. Can i use them over RC1 or are they for the older stable versions.

I'm noticing now that when I turn on my phone, it shows whatever my phone had on screen before it locked for a split second before the lock screen appears. Its not very smooth.

Forgive the double post, but I've also noticed the clock app in this mod is very limited. All you can do is set alarms... where have the countdown timer and stop watch gone? Is there another clock app you can recommend please?

I am really struggling with the keyboard.  No auto corrections and no suggestions. My typing productivity is hitting record lows :-)  the funny thing about the suggestions is that all it can suggest is names from my contacts!!!

I have also noticed that for the nightly build #147. For me, that's a problem related to the colour depth (the drawer displays the icon at a lower colour depth an it performs a dithering).

Been running this RC since release and no issues here with background noise.
