is there any reason to wipe between nightlies or is it OK to flash over the last one?

Can do a straight flash over the first one (after a backup of course) but there is a possibility of legacy issues from the previous rom, is usually just neater(read tidy not cool) to do a wipe so it's a fresh install when doing nightlies.

Did someone find a fix for the Gallery3D rotation problem?
Mine is working on the latest Nightly build!

[EDIT] Ok, not fixed. It was Cyanogens dirty hack :(

google are keeping your wifi passwords safe for you
Good thought, but I keep that setting off. Google has enough of my data as it is, they don't need any more. :)
I'm wondering if CM keeps some of its data stored on the sdcard instead of in /data, or somewhere else that doesn't get erased when you wipe?
Or, it's possible that your phone does the Google backup dance whether you want it to or not atm, that would be sad. :(

I'm running the nightlies as my primary and I've not experienced any major problems. The only things I've seen so far are:

- A few times when someone calls, I hear just a blip of my ringtone and then nothing else. The phone is "ringing" but no sound. I'm able to make the call fine.
- Long press screen, Shortcuts, Applications, [choose and app, say, Calendar]... I get this error: the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Only option is to FC. After that, it's just a blank background with the status bar. Had to press Home.
- I use 'Fancy Widget' the Sense UI like clock and weather thing...the time does not coincide with the actual time of the phone. Most times it's off. Occassionally it'll catch up.

On another note, I'm sure I read somewhere that JIT is really only for Nexus One users and is pretty much null for mt3g and g1 users. Can anyone confirm this?

I also have issues adding widgets to my home screen. It seems like there are three possibilities once I've selected something to add, one of which is chosen at random:
  • Immediate force close, widget is not added
  • Asks for dimensions of widget, followed by force close, but widget shows up afterward
  • Works like it's supposed to
Although I should also note that sometimes long press -> widget will also send me back home, without letting me pick anything. It's tough getting things just the way you want them right now.

As far as JIT goes, I read in another thread that the 32B lacks enough memory to use the JIT effectively, but the 32A might get some benefit out of it. I've played with it and haven't noticed a difference either way on my 32B, so I just keep it off. No sense making things in the background more complicated than they need to be.

I keep Google out of that business. Titanium Backup will restore all that info along with apps. All I have to enter is my Google uid and pw, download TB and I'm off to the races.

I'll post this in here as it's probably nightly related as it's only happened today.
Twice today, I've had the screen go completely black apart from the notification bar. There was a sync icon, but if it was syncing, it was doing it for ages.
Home button didn't respond, although a long press did bring up my used apps list. Lock screen would appear ok, but after unlocking the screen would still be black. A reboot fixed it the first time, but after the second my phone stayed stuck at the G1 screen.

I don't remember what I was doing the first time, but the second I was trying to set a live wallpaper (long press on home screen, wallpapers, live wallpaper, first time it brought up a black screen, then went straight back to home, second time the screen stayed black).

Before anyone asks, no, I don't have a logcat because I'm an idiot ;) , but I'll get one if it happens again.

I also don't seem to be able to restore my last nandroid backup, the dots just keep coming.
Wiped first, now I'm booting again.

Except I'm booting over and over again :(

Flashed the original CM6 RC1 and I'm back. Will finish messing when I get home.

Given the recent explosion of nightly users, I understand your need for a place to discuss them, and/or ask if other users are having similar issues as you...this is that place

1) DO NOT: Post to the bug tracker
2) DO NOT: Open another thread (I will enforce this with temp bans)
3) DO NOT: Think of this as official forum support; this thread will be strictly user to user support. Don't expect CM-dev help.

So what Radio do I use for this? And where do I get it? Would 2.22.19.26I do?

Cyanogen, buddy, I don't know what you did with the Bluetooth, but ever since the Donut came out, I couldn't use it properly in my car. Now it all works again and the sound is clear!!!

Whatever you guys did to the BT, please keep it that way! :)

I believe there are issues with trying to add widgets that are stored on sdcard vs. internal memory. Check to see if the widgets you are trying to install are internal or external. You can see the info in the settings > applications > manage applications. Look for the application name that corresponds to the widget (for instance, look for twitter if you are having trouble adding the twitter widget). Otherwise, check for the widget name (for instance, s2 calendar widget). If the problem widgets are external, move them to internal and try again. Let us know if it works...

You're absolutely right, I read in another thread that widgets are supposed to be installed internally, so I made sure to move all my widget apps to internal memory.

I should have made my previous post more clear - eventually all my widgets get added, it's just that sometimes I have to add the same widget multiple times. For example adding the stock calendar widget: maybe the first time I try and add it, I get a FC and the widget doesn't show up. But the second time I try, the exact same process succeeds. Or it might just work the first time. It's unpredictable. At least once I manage to add it, it stays there, so after I finally get it set up the way I like it it stops being a hassle. :)

http://forum.cyanoge...ream-htc-magic/

I think radio is a matter of preference. Some people get better performance with newer radios, some with older. I prefer to use the latest radio but I don't see much of a difference between them. In any case afaik the mod will work with any radio that's appropriate for your hardware.

I just noticed something new with the latest nightly. I don't seem to have any useful shell commands. I run adb shell and type in things like ls, bash, which, locate, find, mount... all not found. I do have pwd, sh, cd and echo. I haven't tried anything else, but it seems like the path isn't getting set correctly. Either that or there are a bunch of missing tools. Does anyone else have this issue or some insight?

# echo $PATH
echo $PATH
/sbin:/system/sbin:/system/bin:/system/xbin

[EDIT]
No swapon either, which is what I fired up adb to play with. :P

Don't always believe what you read. :) I have a MT32G with the 32B board and JIT enabled results in a huge performance improvement. Try it yourself. Install the LinPack app. Run it without JIT enabled. Try like 3 or 4 benchmark tests to get a nice average. Enable JIT, reboot, and run Linpack again. I'm getting scores just over 4 MFLOPS right now with JIT enabled. If I disable JIT, the scores drop to around 2.4-2.5 MFLOPS.

Scores aside - it feels much faster with JIT enabled to me. But that's just my 2 cents...

Happened in the nightly right before rc1 was released.

Yeah, when I flashed the latest nightly my busybox got all screwy too. Think it was the 0715 one. So I tried the one before, 0714, its working.

On my MT3G1.2, the latest nightly (07152010-001738) doesn't work with my bluetooth headset, as in: No audio at all, though it's paired properly.

On a phone call, the handset's speaker works, but the microphone does not work.

I had a similar issue in an earlier major CM upgrade (maybe cm3 to cm4). I unpaired the headset using the phone interface, and then had to download the manual for my bluetooth headset to find out how to reset its stored pairings as well. After a fresh pairing, they started working together again.
Or, maybe bluetooth is just broken with the latest build, I don't have my headset with me to test right now.

[EDIT]
I just thought also, you might try reflashing your radio. I know that's helped me solve weird problems like that in the past.
