Keep the 1.33.0013d HBOOT installed on your phone; just use customMTD or spoofSPL to spoof "1.33.0013"
and remember if you are having problems 'fastboot erase system -w' will help (something you cant do without the d version)

I wonder if its worth putting up some 'pre spoofed' recoveries ?
at least until 1.33.0013d gets approved in cm

I could also add a bit to customMTD to spoof 1.33.0013 if it sees d

mind you, I want to clean up customMTD, already thinking how I can get rid of the bind mount script

I'm beeing lazy.. but its a simple edit of build.prop in the recovery's ramdisk I think.. or of course just ship one with the command line (that I could do quickly.. unpackbootimg and mkbootimg are on my PATH of my MacBook)

Of course someone could submit this as a patch/defect so future nighties just know of 1.33.0013d

So, if I were to apply the CustomMTD patch via recovery, 1.33.0013d will work ? I'm always using CustomMTD cause I love it.

just put ( as second line )

spl 1.33.0013

in mtdpartmap.txt

and flash the recovery patcher

as long as you don't resize, you don't need to the the full wipe thing

What's the difference when you put the line
spl 1.33.2005 ? (difference in install offset's?)

Ezterry's kernel ports insist on 1.33.0013 or 1.33.0013d ( which is what you need for the g1 aka dream hence the d )
CM doesn't know about 1.33.0013d yet, but it does allow 1.33.0013

1.33.0013 will let you flash both CM6 and Ezterry's kernel

Note, all we are doing is dodging the assert check in the ROM zip by pretending to be one of the things it wants

Originally I made it so that you could install  cm6 with a 1.33.2003 spl, we were pretending to be 1.33.2005 ;)
1.33.2003 will never make it as being accepted by cm, as its system size is only 67.5 mb, but 1.33.0013d probably will
and of course , we don't care about the spl's system size as we change it at will

tbh, its not difficult to remove the assert checks, clockwork has a feature to turn them off ( but didn't work last time I tried )

I dont think it should be too challenging for people to just flash spoofspl but i have been surprised by a good lot of posters here. but what the hell, right?

G1
'Pre Spoofed' (1.33.2005) amon ra 1.7.0g recovery (flash from recovery, then reboot into recovery)

i havent put one together for rogers dream but, honestly... just flash the spoofspl zip.

Noooooooooo

G1 cant use 1.33.0013, which is why ezterry hacked it , you *need* 1.33.0013d

the problem is, you can't flash a CM6 Rom as it doesn't have 1.33.0013d in the assert checks, it won't flash ..

the SPL spoof makes your recovery think its a different SPL, in this case 1.33.0013 .
the advantage of the spoof is newbs don't have to edit the updater-script, and resign if they use RA rec.

but instead the newbs get all confused :D

please please don't flash 1.33.0013,

please just leave it, no need for a flame war..

Thx Firehat for the clarification.

I was confused by the spoof 1.33.0013 and was thinking that maybe I had understood wrong about the Non D version for dream.

Yesterday I've edited the update script and repacked the Zip adding the 1.33.0013d but the same error appeared (no need to resign because I use clockwork).

Normally I Repack the Nigtly removing ADW because I use Launcher Pro and it's rather annoying to remove it from terminal everytime.

I'll try again today with the new nigtly.

P.S. Thx to ex for the clarification too and for the great kernel

if your editing the zip why not just remove the asserts from the update-script?

Wussup Spoofers.

I found I didnt need to do any form of SPL Spoof/CustomMTD when I restored from NAND - everything works great, and my remaining data is the same as before I updated to new SPL/RADIO.

Working without any errors.

Ok I need help From some Pro's....

I have a question that is to specific to post in any thread and has NOTHING to do with the nightlys so I though I would just try directly..But I guess Im the only one who allows a PM.... So... I have installed Oracle VM on my windows Boot partition, Downloaded the 10.04LTS.iso and have begun installing it to the virtual machine I created.... When the Ubuntu installer reaches the point of partitioning the 8G disk space I assigned it, It selects the storage RAID array I have as where to create the partition... Can I do that without hurting the data on the RAID array? The array is 2 400G disks combined to make 800G(RAID 0?). So if I allow it to create this 8G partition, does it make two 4G partitions..? Also if it matters I have no RAID card.. it is in my motherboard, and is the Software type RAID I believe...The windows Boot partition (and Oracle) are located on another 400G HD that I have partitioned for 2,30G-XP installs, ,90G-windows applications, 120G-linux partition, and 120G-MacOSX... I would have preferred to re size the existing Linux partition but the Ubuntu installer only seems to "see" the RAID array...

I have tried to search this answer out of google, but the question "can I create a VM partition on my Windows RAID"
seems to specific to get a good answer....
Thanks again for your time, even just some more good links would help.
also please PM me if you can so that I don't dirty up this thread to bad.. :(
Cheers

If you add Launcher Pro to the custom backup list, it'll get saved & restored to /system/app (assuming you have it in there before flashing).  Then you can either leave ADWLauncher where it is, or delete it with Android Commander which takes about 3 seconds.  The custom backup list is well worth doing anyway, I also have it restoring ringtones and swap after flashing.

well, this has nothing to do with cyan or the nightlies, but here goes.

RAID 0 stripes data across both drives simultaneously.  depending on your stripe size, that's the amount that is written to the drives at the same time splitting the data.

as far as a vm partition, all that does is create a file that it mounts as a partition.  it doesn't actually create a partition on the drive, just a file that it mounts as a drive.  the data for this file will be striped across the array, but will look like 1 file on your host machine and 1 partition on your vm.

I think there is a radio improvement for me, download has gone from 1.8Mbps to 3.2Mbps (oops, not 32!), and upload from about 0.8Mbps to 1.8 Mbps.

This could  be  the network improving, and not the radio, so more reports are needed to confirm.

I can't imagine any device being perceivably quicker in action than this, yeh a few milliseconds maybe, but the dang thing is now quicker than me! Lol
:D

cheers emp0wer - has anyone else seen any marked improvements with this radio update?  Or it more the case of cleaner/compressed code?

Before going down this merry path it would be best to confirm which version of oraclevm has been obtained as it has the tendency to completely remove all partitions, if multiboot is not configured, due to it being a host o/s install rather than a client application.

Initially I would suggest vmplayer and performing a install on the windows platform as it appears you are more comfortable with that.

Yes I know, and I will not continue posting about it....after this one...

and since its a file and they just call it a partition, its fine.... Unless I have the  wrong version?

Put a file called custom_backup_list.txt in /system/etc
Populate it with the names of the files you want saved, relative to /system this is what I have:

/app/LauncherPro.apk
/media/audio/ringtones/Auto_destruct.ogg
/media/audio/ringtones/Resistance_is_futile.ogg
/etc/init.d/06mountsd
/etc/init.d/20userinit
/etc/init.d/83swapon

It uses space as a delimiter, so it won't work on any filenames that have spaces.
