I finally updated just now, in this order:
fastboot flash radio radio-2.22.28.25.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
Then I booted into recovery and flashed:
cm_dream_sapphire_full-307 (Also tried with 305 & 306)
gapps-mdpi-20110107-signed
ez-exp20110109-cm-2708port_S
I runs great, 14mb hack present in terminal when running "free", but I got a green screen.
Ant suggestions on a good working combo for me (32b), can I resore my 251 nandroid and flash a 2708 kernal ? Thanks in advance.

Try one of Pershoot's kernels, I've heard they do the trick. http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/

Same here. I was running the pershoot 35.10 and it gave me random reboots a couple of times a day. Currently on one of ezterry's kernels and it's been fine for several days now.

Seems to charge to 100% when USB is not involved.. was stuck at 90% after us b unplug than charge on AC.. power off the led tured green at once so it was the phones confusion not the actual charge.
FYI many people are looking into the USB drain.. I don't think we are in agreement so we are chasing different things.. with luck one of us finds something that works and allows us to continue work on the rest of the kernel without breaking it again.

There are some programs running or something that is draining my phone after being fully charged... drops from 100% to 60% in a few hours and I have the extended 3400 battery ><

let it drain for a little while (until its obvious its draining fast):
1) goto Spare Parts -> Battery History
2) set dropdowns to "CPU usage" / "Since Last Unplugged"
> this shows the most used CPU app on top.. not what it is.. and if the bar goes across the screen or is just near the left (if near the left this is not likely the issue)
3) set dropdowns to "Network usage" / "Since Last Unplugged"
> This shows what is eating your network usuage.. if you are not on 3g and have a high amount of net traffic this can easily be the issue.. note the applications again
4) Last time now "Partial wake usage" / "Since Last Unplugged"
> This shows what apps have been keeping the system from "sleeping" thus saving battery
From these lists you ought to get an idea of what apps are sucking the battery dry.. adjust their usage as needed.. Also make sure you are not running into the USB bug as well and restart after unplug from USB for now.
As for the logcat.. it says setcpu is unhappy.. but nothing else obvious.. particularly if its battery that logcat isn't the best tool for.

Have a look at the Magpie thread in hacks & mods. He was banned for refusing to compromise his principle of treating morons like morons. It's pretty funny stuff. Why people take this stuff so seriously and personally is utterly beyond me.

but what did you mean by SetCPU being uphappy?

As well as many attempts to start SetCPU and a binary file.. could be you have not yet granted setcpu root; or could be a oversight and all is working.. Just with some additional logs I don't know.
Unless you find setcpu is your problem, It probably doesn't matter.

Also it was found having USB debugging enabled was causing significant battery drain when being detached from USB. Turning it off helps greatly.

cm_dream_sapphire_full-307.zip
with
ez-exp20110109-cm-ebi0port_S.zip kernel.
and it's definitely sucking down the battery something fierce, I was running nightly 231 before this and it amazed me with how battery friendly it was.
so I went into spare parts and checked some settings, nothing really stands out but I hope this helps:
cpu usage since last unplugged: suspend @ 1h 31m
android system @ 19m 23s
network usage since last unplug: email bytes received 317916
uid 10046 total bytes - 75804
partial wake usage since last unplug: android system total time 10m 44s
uid 10046 2m 23s
other usage since last unplug: time spent w/o sleeping 6h 19m 57s 99.899%
time spent with screen on 34m 39s 9.11%
time spent with phone on 21s
wifi on 100%
time spent wifi running 4h 38m 73.2%
I did try to hit the 'off/red' button every time i was done with the phone as I heard it's supposed to help.. I don't think it does in this case..
and usb was unplugged before the phone was rebooted, so it never had anything usb plugged in.. I have a usb port charger but it doesn't register as usb.
and usb debugging is off in the settings.
also- the colored version looks 10x better then the stock rom

Once I've fixed the remaining problems it is certainly possible to port the changes I've done to the AOSP froyo device to make it compile gingerbread to the CM6.1 dream_sapphire device info; or to replace it entirely with a updated version of mine for CM7 then run the build..
But if you didn't know the dream-sapphire build file was not in the CM7 build tree.. this is not so trivial.
