You flash it from recovery, just like you did the cm5.0.8.

My phone is a HTC-Magic 32B

Sapphire PVT 32B
HBOOT-1.33.2010
RADIO-2.22.19.26I

Now I have installed CM5.0.8.
I tryed to install CM6.0.0
copy update-cm-6.0.0-DS-signed.zip to root of my sd-card
select. wipe to factory reset
update any zip from sd.
reboot system.

Now I get the startscreen from cyanogen.
After a few minutes the startscreeen stops for a few seconds, the screen gets blach and I get a new startscreen.
This happens for more than 15 minutes so I flashed CM5 again.
Any Idea whats wrong?

Hi,
I see nothing wrong here, except that maybe your download was incorrect. Please check if the md5sum matches that in Cyanogen's ROM post.

I checked the md5 sum.
It´s the same like on the download page.
Could it be a memory problem?
If i check the usage of the system partition I see 97% used.
Sorry for the question, but get all apps lost after flashing CM6?
Because I didn´t flash Google Apps again and there are other Google apps for CM6 than CM5.
Could that be the problem?

Could be, but 97% does not mean full. My system is 94% percent full, so I think you need to wipe again.
Then repeat the process. Make sure you flash the tiny google apps, and not the full ones.
Did you try booting the ROM without the gapps?

I wiped my phone again and installed the cm6 without google apps. Than I started the phone and all worked. So I installed tiny - apps and restarted and it also worked.
Thank´s a lot

http://wiki.cyanogen..._HTC_Magic_(32A)

do I come in? Does this make sense?

Thanks!

Dude can you post the link where you got the gapps file from, none of the tiny ones I try seem to install and the normal size doesn't install the market when loaded on,

Thanks

I installed CM6 and the mini gapps from amon ra, everything looks fine from there.

I then reboot and it shows the yellow mytouch preboot screen

Then it goes black and then reboots again.

Any ideas of what I can do to fix this? Did I miss something?

Edit: NVM Just installed the latest radio and that did the trick.

Greetings,

Noob here....and I managed to know learn this stuff like I should have...

Here is the problem: I bought a used Mytouch 3G 3.1mm off craigslist. The person who sold it to me, told me it had android 2.2 on it. I did not put much thought into it, until I got it home and noticed it had cyanogen on it. Great its already rooted and has a mod.

Some 5 months later....aka today... The phone just started rebooting over and over. I powered down, removed battery... still reboots.

What should I do next?   Get latest mod and install a fresh copy?  IF, so, is that simple? can someone point me to the correct mod file and some instructions? btw... I never did a mod in my life time on android phone...

where do I start. :-)

Hi,
Have you read the update guide for your phone in the Wiki?
http://wiki.cyanogen...de_-_Fender/1.2

I know there are a few threads in the stable forum dealing with the rooting/update/etc as well. I know your phone is rooted and modded, but those might help you with some specifics. Perhaps the solution may be as simple as wiping and installing the CM (or another ROM) again.

I actually fixed it... I basically just upgraded the experimental cyanogen mod, updated, the kernal and google apps. Cleared a cached (devak) sp? and it booted into the updated mod and is now working... Now I just need to read on and find out how to back everything up.. I got lucky...no loss of data.. ;-)

Rob D.

Thanks y'all

2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Install the DangerSPL if you don't already have it
4. WIPE (I cannot guarantee an upgrade from CM-4.2 to CM-5 will work)
5. Install the ROM
6. Optionally install the Google Addon if you want Google Applications like Gmail and Market

IS THERE ANY VIDEO AVAILABLE DONT UNDERSTAND HOW DOSE WORK THIS ALL STEP

PLEASE HELP ME

THANKS

Having trouble installing the update-cm-6.0.0-DS-signed.zip version I got it rooted and rom manager installed and radio updated and all that fun stuff. Now when trying to upgrade to the new version I get Installation Aborted. I've wiped data and cache and such and all that and tried it again with no luck as well.

Firmware 1.0
Radio 2.22.19.261
Build 1.0 TC4-RC29

Also this is the TM G1

Thx's for any help in advanced.

Hi,

I'm quite new to this thing of modding my magic.

I'd like to reinstall and upgrade because my phone is damn slow (maybe too many apps (about 100), many sms (more than 3000 just with my girlfriend)) and I'd like to enjoy the last feature of Froyo as it was promised (by SFR, french vodaphone, shame on them) and not delivered...

Can somebody drive me a little bit on how to flash my HTC Magic to a newer android version ?

From my noob point of view :
  • I dont know wich model of HTC Magic I own
  • I see a bunch of files to download, but don't know what to do with them

Can somebody provides some links to tutorial so I can get started ?

Thanks,
Thomas.

First off: I'm an idiot. With that out of the way, I'm looking for some help.

Phone: 32A (myTouch 3G 1.2 / Fender LE (3.5mm jack) version), prior to me screwing it up, it was on the stock 1.6 firmware

Utilizing the Full Update guide (http://wiki.cyanogen...de_-_Fender/1.2) I initially tried universal androot, and then on to install CM latest. No dice.

I tried the manual route, following all steps until 13. Type the following, pressing "enter" a the end of each line: (NOTE: Mac users will need to use the "fastboot-mac" command instead of just "fastboot".) .

I never was able to achieve the highlighted bar stating fastboot. I could only get it to state fastbootusb. Since it seemed to state this only when connected via USB, I assumed that it was ok and attempted to proceed. When typing the first line, flash radio radio.img, my cmd reported waiting for device. I gave it a fair bit of time, with no response. I opened a second cmd and tried abd devices, and none were reported. I tried removing drivers with usbdview (as that was the recommended resolution for improper installation previously. I suspect that wasn't helpful). disconnect, reboot reconnect and varying the order of such did not help. Assuming that something must be wrong I started back over at step 1 of installation; hboot, flash the new sapping file. This time, the phone reported fail-PU for all but the radio update, and (I am sure someone reading this is pulling their hair out since that is a completely incorrect resolution) now the phone won't do anything. No fastboot, hboot, recovery, no recognition on usb plugging, no status light. pulling the battery for ~ 5min doesn't change anything. Pulling the sd card doesnt change anything.

Searching, I could only find answers for phones which are in a boot loop or black screens once booted. What are my options? will JTAG do anything for me? Anyone with the hardware in Albuquerque?

edited to add details on phone

I went through the steps as outline here http://wiki.cyanogen...eam_911_Patched
to update my Dream to cyanogenmod5, everything went well with no problems.
However after I finished and rebooted my device I got stuck at the booting screen of android 2.1; the booting animation keeps restarting in an endless loop.

I flashed the cymod (update-cm-5.0.8-DS-signed)
then i flashed EBI1 Kernel (bc-5.0.8-ebi1-signed)
then i flashed the google apps (gapps-ds-ERE36B-signed)

here are my details:

HTC Dream
Logs. i cant obtain the log, when i try any adb command it says device not found
info from bootloader/fastboot/SPL mode
Model: Dream PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
       HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA21000)
       Radio-3.22.26.17
CyanogenMod 5.0.8-DS

I believe i wiped cache before flashing but I rebooted because it was stuck at Formatting CACHE:....
I have not tried running fix_permissions, not sure how to do that
I tried rebooting, I also tried wiping Dalvik-cache and cache then rebooting
I dont have Apps2sd and i did not partition

Any help would be really appreciated, and if i cant fix this problem, how can I use Amon_Ra's Recovery to restore my phone back to a working condition, i did not backup using Nandroid

cheers

I have an HTC magic 32b.

The phone was given to me already rooted at 1.6. I installed ROM manager and successfully flashed clockworkmod recovery. Then I booted to recovery. I wiped all data and cleared dalvik cache. Afterwards, I installed from zip, cm 6 and even tried cm 6.1. Every time I boot up my phone, all I see is the "HTC Magic" logo and nothing else. Just hangs there forever. Tried waiting for over 30 minutes. I ran the debug thingy in recovery mode and it gave me a text file in my sd card.

ro.baseband=3.22.20.17
ro.carrier=ALL
ro.bootloader=1.33.2010

I believe those are my current radio and HBOOT versions. I also tried installing bcrook's EBI1 kernel with no luck. Still hangs at splash screen. Does anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance.
