Ok.... so fairly new to flashing, only other phone i have flashed was my MT3G (no jack) with not really any problems other than a never ending boot animation, i think was CM6 RC2 about a year ago.

well my MT3G kinda died in april and my buddy gave me his G1/ Dream since he has a G2 now, i have been trying to flash CM6 and other froyo roms on it for about a week now, nothing has worked no matter what config i have on there. and the closest i have gotten was CM6 boot-loop.

I cant get it to work no matter what way instructed on wiki aside from clockwork due to not able to DL since market is old from FW 1.0.

Phone info:
Model Number: T-Mobile G1
Firmware Version: 1.0
Baseband Version: 62.50SF.20.17H_2.22.27.08
Kernel Version: 2.6.25-01843-gfea26b0 android-build@apa27 #6
Build Number: kila-user 1.0 TC4-RC29 115247 ota-rel-keys,release-keys
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What i have on SD at moment:
CM6 (update.zip)
Recomended Gapps.zip for CM6 (gapps-mdpi-20110501-signed)
recomended Kernel: ezBiffTestKernel120110222-2708_S
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What I have for Hboot info:
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.33.2003 (DREA10000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.27.08
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How i Flashed and rooted:
I followed the "Telnet" Process for Amon_RA-dream-v1.7.0
updated HBOOT to 1.33.2003
updated Radio to 2.22.27.08
Did a Catch WIPE
Flashed "Update.zip"
Flashed Kernel
Flashed Gapps
Re-booted = Boot Loop

Repeated Flash + Re-Boot = Boot Loop
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried to Flash in various orders but get the G1 boot screen up to 8hrs (left over night)

so what is it that i am missing? i did not have this problem W/ my MT3G, the only thing i have not tried is flashing CM5 than to CM6, will be doing soon, not mentioned in Wiki or just did not see.

any help would be awesome!!! PLEASE and THANK YOU!!!!!!

The SPL you have isn't compatible with the stock kernel of CM6. You need a 2708 compatible kernel. You can get one here: http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=831139. You want ezBiffTestKernel20110222-2708_S.zip. Farmatito also has a nice Froyo 2708 kernel: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1010932. You want Standard Autokernel for Froyo (discontinued): auto-boot-2.6.35.13-farmatito-pershoot-ds+-20110428.zip.

Once have your new kernel zip file on your SD card, flash CM6, then flash the kernel back to back and reboot. You should be good to go after that.

Can you get into fastboot? Reboot by holding the camera and power button. If it comes on, write down what you see and report it back here. Most likely your problem is you flashed a radio that is not compatible with your SPL.

No... i can't, i have a magic so i have to hold power and back button, but there is no way to get out the splsh screen. Obviously before flashing the radio i could get into both recovery and fastboot. Maybe from pc there is a chance?

Wow...sounds serious. I think the next thing you might research is use of a gold card to try and unbrick your phone. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I made it upto Installing a Custom Recovery Image.

Although when attempting to do: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

I get an error on telnet saying cannot open, no such file or directory.

How do I fix this?

Edit:

Instead I typed /sdcard/recovery.img recovery.img instead ; would this still work?

Hi,

I've been trying the CyanogenMod 6 installation process for HTC G1 described on -> http://wiki.cyanogen...yanogenMod_5%2B <- at least 3 times. The result is that my phone doesn't boot after flashing DangerSPL bootleader. Down, the details of the process.

Following the Rooting process on -> http://wiki.cyanogen..._Dream:_Rooting

Downgrading the firmware to RC29 I get on fastboot mode:

DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-1.22.12.29

With the ugly colored interface and a working phone.

Rooting with the following telnet steps:
# mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
# dd if=/system/bin/sh of=/system/bin/su
169+1 records in
169+1 records out
86936 bytes transferred in 0.050 secs (1738720 bytes/sec)
# chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
# su
#

Installing Amon_Ra's (recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img) recovery with the following telnet steps:
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
# cat /sdcard/recovery.img > /system/recovery.img
#

Flashing Radio with Amon_Ra's recovery booting on recovery mode:
* Flash zip from sdcard
* G1-radio-2_22_23_02.zip

I get on fastboot mode:

DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.23.02

Still with the ugly colored interface and most important thing of all, a working phone.

Then, following the instructions to flash DangerSPL bootloader on -> http://wiki.cyanogen...Dream:DangerSPL <- using Amon_Ra's recovery booting on recovery mode.
* Flash zip from sdcard
* dream_magic.hboot-1.33.2005-signed.zip

I get on fastboot mode:

DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA10000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.23
Apr 20 2009,15:30:43

With a new improved interface (I guess the one from DangerSPL), but a non working phone to continue with the process. Never the less I've tried to flash the rest of the files to see if i could boot the phone with no results at all.

Is there something I'm missing? There are other things to verify? What can I do to successfully install CyanogenMod 6?

Thanks in advance,
Ziggy :-D

I was following the wiki install process when I got the Eningeering SPL flashed and realized I for got to run the RUU. No w my question is can I proceed to downgrade my radio to 3.22 and the danger SPL without bricking my phone?

Rogers HTC Magic 32A 6.35 Radio and 1.7.6 End SPL.

I really want to try our CM6 but don;t want to brick my phone either. Any help would be great.

I have an HTC Magic which is rooted and has a custom mod installed on it. I want to update my phone's android system to a later version. The mod is based on android 1.5. I have tried to install ROM Manager on my phone but I was unable to. It wasn't listed in the market app. I couldn't install it off of the online market because it didn't detect that I have an android device since it is android 1.5. And I did download the APK file to install it and tried the built-in installer as well as three different installer apps and it would not install through any of those. I even tried downloading the apk from different sources to ensure that it wasn't corrupted. I have already backed up with Titanium backup and so I just need to find a way to install cyanogenmod. I can install another build first if I need to but would prefer to do it in one step if possible. I looked for a resolution to this on the forum but was unable to find one. If there is already one on here I would be happy to look at it if someone has a link they can share. Thanks for any help you can provide. I have tried going into the recovery screen but there didn't seem to be any way to install a new ROM there. But I am probably missing something.

Hello all , I have a belgian HTC magic white on 1.5
I all ready try a lot of rom and try to update him to a higher version, all that i try blocks on my first logo even if the installation of the rom is succesful

I have :
sapphire pvt 32A ship s-on H
HBOOT - 1.33.0009
CPLD-12
Radio - 3.22.20.17

and the recovery mod is: recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H

Now i'm tryng this http://wiki.cyanogen...CyanogenMod_5/6
  • Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
  • Magic32A / Roger's / Orange ONLY: Download the latest version of the EBI1 kernel.
  • Note: This does not apply to Magics with 3.5mm jacks.
  • Optional: Download the corresponding Google Apps for the device.*
  • Place all the files you downloaded on the root the device's SD card
  • Reboot into recovery (Hold Home + Power)
  • If you want, perform a full Wipe (wipe->factory reset)-- this will sometimes prevent various issues, but at the cost of all your data/settings/etc.
  • If you don't perform a full wipe, it is recommended to clear the dalvik-cache (wipe->dalvik-cache).
  • Select "Flash zip from sdcard".
  • Select the CyanogenMod update.zip
  • Magic32A / Roger's / Orange Only: Once installation is complete, select "Flash zip from sdcard" again, then Select the EBI1 update.zip
  • Optional: Once installation is complete, select "Flash zip from sdcard" again, then Select the Google Apps update.zip
  • Once complete, reboot the device
  • The first boot after flashing a new ROM will be substantially longer than "normal". 5 minutes is not unusual.

i have done every thing as they say, there is just a little thing on step 10 and 11
  • Select the CyanogenMod update.zip
  • Magic32A / Roger's / Orange Only: Once installation is complete, select "Flash zip from sdcard" again, then Select the EBI1 update.zip
i installed the CyanogenMod update.zip (update-cm-6.1.0-DS-signed) but i don't know what the EBI1 update.zip is :( ?

so i didn't do the step 11 and is block again on my first logo ( that's the logo of my provider)
so pls Help, i realy need some help and sorry for my english !

And i even try an official htc update but i get 131 error :"RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.1_test_signed_NoDriver"

if you need more information, tell me !

Hello,

i have probelm with flashing my phone. It succesfully boots after wipe/reflash. But after subscribing to google account and reset it keeps in loop while booting.

loop from adb catlog:

http://pastebin.com/AnGxhtuM

I/DEBUG   (  120): pid: 162, tid: 170  >>> system_server <<<
I/DEBUG   (  120): signal 11 (SIGSEGV), fault addr 1c6bdcda

More details in pastebin.

Behaviour is the same for Cyanogenmod 5 or 6.

I'd like to pay someone to flash my "Google Ion" (from the 2009 developer conference) into Cyanogenmod.  While I appreciate the instructions here in this forum, there are a lot of "unless" "ands" and "warnings".

Anyone offering mail-in upgrade services for Cyanogenmod?

Not a problem but a question. Finally reached the point of understanding to successfully, downgrade, root, then upgrade my two G1 to CM6.1.0-DS.

First, many thanks for a wonderful new breath of life into these good utilitarian workhorses, they are like new phones!

My question, am I interperting correctly that no SD card partitioning is required with CM6 to do apps to SD if I manually move them to the SD using the option in the apps manager?

I am not app intensive, so don't mind at all walking them over there if that is all it takes.

Any input/ education on the issue would be welcome, and again thanks to CM for the great ROM

Dear all,

I'm a complete noob at this but have tried to update my old HTC Magic to CM6.1. Unfortunately, I've run into a problem I cant seem to google my way out of. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Current status:
* have rooted the phone
* have installed a recovery: RA-hero-v1.6.2 since I read that was the one working for a HTC 32A
* can boot into recovery and try to flash a new rom (update-cm-6.1.0-DS-signed), but when I do that I get an error message during the verification part:

E:Error in /sdcard/update.... (Status 7)

Installation aborted

The information on the phone:

SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT 1.76.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO 6.35.08.29

What am I overlooking?

Cheers,

Claus

Can anyone post clear instructions on how to Upgrade my G1 from 1.6 to CM6?....
Wiki used to be a very good spot, but now i cant find anything remotely useful...
