How about a mod for the contacts app that lets you either set a group when creating a contact or always assigns it to a certain one.

Hi all,
a few weeks ago I changed to CM7 coming from HTC Sense.
I also missed the feature to add contacts to different groups. I think my imported addressbook still has the former groups stored somewhere (MyPhoneExplorer shows them), but no option found in CM addressbook to add someone to a group nor see the current group. Layout of CM7 addressbook is much better than at HTC though.
Hope you can include that Option!

Hi sadmglw
i think the contacts app does well. beside that I dont want to install tons of apps just because there is one "basic" function missing.

It's not the desired way, but that's how I do it: set the contact-group in your gmail account and it will synchronize

Yes, the contacts are already grouped, but it would be nice
to easily select a group like in GO-Contacts

I also don't like to install tons of apps just because there is one "basic" function missing.
Btw. great that I can sort the contacts by last name now.
