Rooted my phone, but when trying to install the SGS2 Cyanogen 7.10 either via ClockwordMod or Rom Manager I get the error:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Notes, the .zip file is on the root dir of the SD Card, have also installing the .zip from the root dir of the phone itself and same error occurs.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a workaround?

Thanks

Did you verify the MD5sum after downloading the zip?

Got it working!  What I did was boot into CWM, make sure to toggle the file verification to "disabled"

Clear data/cache/etc... select install from .zip, it installed and for good measure I repeated everything and now I'm running CyanogenMod 7.10 :)

I'm having issues as well, trying to install through cwm or rom manager I either get zip failures or other errors, the two gapps packages flash just fine so I don't think it's a problem with the recovery I think something is borked on the zip file, I haven't checked the md5 sum yet but can anyone help or confirm this issue?

Had the same exact issue on my SGH-I777:

CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.3
Finding update package
Openinng update package
Verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

I was able to get pass this installing the "UnNamed" (very nice rom) and then I was ablue to install CM7.1. These are the steps I took. PERFORM AT YOUR OWN RISK! PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP IN CWM (ClockWorkMod). Don't use Rom Manager.

1.- Unrooted my phone. (http://galaxys2root....xy-s2-sgh-i777/)

2.- Rooted with these instructions (http://galaxys2root....xy-s2-sgh-i777/). This will root, install CWM and install custom kernel all in one shot.

3.- Power phone off.

4.- With the phone powered off, hold both volume buttons and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release all three when you see the Galaxy S II logo disappear and reappear. This should boot you into CWM (ClockWorkMod). I noticed the external SD card was not visible.

5. - Download "update-unnamed-v2.2.1-full.zip" (http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1299474) and copy it via USB to the root dir of your SGS2.

6.-Connect USB cable to PC.

7.- In CWM goto "mounts and storage > mount USB storage > mount". Windows should detect the SGS2 as an external storage device.

8.- copy to the root dir of the SGS2 the downloaded "update-unnamed-v2.2.1-full.zip"

9.- Select "wipe data/factory reset".

10.- Select "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to and select "update-unnamed-v2.X.X-full.zip".

11.- When it finishes flashing, go back and select "reboot system now". The first boot will take a couple minutes. You should see an animation that looks like colorful sheets of paper spinning in circles. This animation will play over and over for a few minutes.
***Patience is the best remedy for every trouble. (Titus Maccius Plautus (254 BC - 184 BC))***

- NOW WE ARE GOING TO REPEAT SOME OF THE ABOVE STEPS -

12.- Power phone off.

13.- With the phone powered off, hold both volume buttons and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release all three when you see the Galaxy S II logo disappear and reappear. This should boot you into CWM. I noticed the external SD card was not visible.

14.- Download the latest version of CM7.1 (http://wiki.cyanogen...II_.28AT.26T.29) and Google apps for CM7 (http://wiki.cyanogen...ion#Google_Apps)

15.-Connect USB cable to PC.

16.- In CWM goto "mounts and storage > mount USB storage > mount". Windows should detect the SGS2 as an external storage device.

17.- copy to the root dir of the SGS2 the downloaded "update-cm-7.1.0-Galaxys2ATT-signed.zip" and "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip"

18.- Select "wipe data/factory reset".

19.- Select "Wipe Cache partition"

20.- Select "advance > Wipe Dalvik Cache"

21.- Select "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to and select "update-cm-7.1.0-Galaxys2ATT-signed.zip". The status bar should move quickly. Should not be getting the E:failed to verify whole-file signature or E:signature verification failed messages.

22.- AGAIN Select "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to and select "update-cm-7.1.0-Galaxys2ATT-signed.zip". Yes this has to be done twice. Now the status bar should move much slower. This is a good thing.

23.- When it finishes flashing, go back and select "reboot system now". The first boot will take a couple minutes.

24.- To install the Google apps do steps 12, 13.

25.- Select "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to and select "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip".

26.- When it finishes, go back and select "reboot system now".

Done.

Hope this helps.

PS:
Don't for get to delete the three zip files that you copied to the root dir of the SGS2.
