on my ZTE V9.

I think that the only way to install it is by ROM Manager. But I´ve no idea how to get the ROM Manger work properly. ROM Manager asks me about the kind of hardware Ißm using but there is no ZTE in that (short) list.

Any idea how to install cyanogen in a different way ?

to install cyanogen on v9,  you have to install Clockworkmod first.

There's no official Clockwork recoveries in ROM Manager yet.

But most important to start with is that you MUST make sure that your tablet is "Gen2". If it runs Android 2.2 then it is Gen2. If it is still running Android 2.1 then you must download and install the official Android 2.2 upgrade from ZTE before you do anything else.

When you are sure you are "Gen2" then you can use this app to install Clockwork recovery: http://www.mediafire...mhueppg4idy7574 (no need to root as the app is based on z4root)
If you want you can then use this to upgrade Clockwork to 4.0.1.5: http://android.podtw...date_signed.zip

Once Clockwork is in place, just boot into Clockwork with volume-down pressed and install CyanogenMod + Google apps and do not forget to Wipe.

I'm going to write root and install guide when I get time but this should get you started.

I see that ZTE V9 is now officially supported. Great.

When will there be an official recovery mod available from Cyanogen to enable me to use ROM Manager with it instead of having to user Clockwork recovery

Thanks

I used Fastboot to load CWR for the first time loads of info if you Google it!
I know the ROM is for ZTE V9 but does that inclued ZTE V9+ I understand there are two different models (or are they the same?).

For the history and a great guide to upgrading the V9 light (Optus MyTab) see:

They are different and this forum applies only to ZTE V9 Light (Optus MyTab) NOT ZTE V9+

EDIT: Google apps can be found here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/

When flashing different brands of Roms (e.g. Stock / Optus / CM7) alot of hassle can be avoided if you wipe from within ClockWorkRecovery (CWR), so no residual information from past ROM is present.

you can - Wipe Cache, Wipe Data, Wipe Dalvik cache.

See the second link in post #6  for more info - SECTION 4 gives a good idea of the flash and wipe process within CWR

paperOne,

It is OK if you forget to wipe, just know that IF you have any issues, like App Force Closes etc that a fresh install and wipe can fix your problems...
I would reboot into CW Recovery after flash then partition SD. ;)

You are correct that the Z4root process is no longer required... and this is why I introduced the links with "For the history and a great guide to upgrading the V9 light (Optus MyTab)"
As when I was learning the root/flash process was required...but now it appears not...

keep us posted on how your flash went, and if you have any Wifi/3G/GPS/Camera/lag issues
cheers,
