The MSM8660 is the CDMA version of the MSM8260. Other than the radios, they're identical. If one's the focus of development, odds are the other is as well.

I´m waiting for the normal "stable" release of Cyanogenmod because thenit´s available over clockworkmod and because I like to get Wifi Calling on my T989.

here are some guys who already flashed cyanogenmod. I think the camera still has some issues and some calling issues.
And to come back to Ice cream sandwich, the problem with android ICS is that it uses a different performance and gpu driver, which is better, because that gives the high end smartphones more power and more battery life, but the disadvantage is that they have to adjust parts of the T989 source to ice cream sandwich. That can take a while

I would think that now he has a conflict of interests. Do you think Cyanogen is going to bake into the CM product a way to enable non-detectable wireless tethering when his employer (Samsung) clearly has built it in as to comply with the requests of the wireless carriers?

That is an interesting point. I remember reading, on twitter or somewhere, that being to continue with cm was a condition of his upon being hired.

ur2blame4 or something like that, the numbers sometimes wont go, i've done a clean install, dalvik, cache, wipe, ect...
*UPDATE: it seems like using a different keyboard fixed my issue, im using the BETA for swpye...although i still cant get into the appstore, i dont know why
**UPDATE: Well, since i mod my phone every 2 seconds, the amazon appstore limits devices, and i had like a billion Samsung devices, got rid of them all and im good now

Would it be a bad idea to run Odin with Wine? Is there a linux compatible tool for flashing the t989?

I used Odin with Oracle VirtualBox in Ubuntu 11.10 running an XP guest...you'll need the extension pack for USB device support (and OSE version doesnt have this - so you'll probably need to download it manually, etc..) but it did work fine for me.
PS -the non-OSE version is still free for non-commercial use,
