Hi all.
I have encountered same problem with my backflip
Sometimes (usually, but not always) when battery falls below 15% - it hangs
And then, reboot, reboot and reboot again
blue cyanogen logo, reboot, cyanogen logo.
Can you give me an advice?
btw, cyanogen 7 + clockwork
no gapps

Hi everyone,
I believe I've figured out the solution to the problem with your motorola backflip, because I've had the same issue.
You would see several posts about the keyboard, camera, battery, etc. being the problem, however I believe it is an overheating issue.
I've tried all the solutions on the internet, but the only one that works is what I've tried, and it is as follows:
1. While the phone is stuck in the reboot cycle, place it in your refrigerator for a few minutes (10 to 15mins), preferably the freezer section.
2. The phone will eventually boot. While the phone is still 'cold' go into SETTINGS -> CYANOGENMOD SETTINGS -> PERFORMANCE -> CPU SETTINGS and set your MAX and MIN CPU FREQUENCIES to 245Mhz.
3. CHECK THE SET ON BOOT BOX.
Your problem should be solved. Your phone would not keep on rebooting unless you're using it in an extremely hot climate or environment.
You could always download a temperature monitoring app. to make sure your phone runs cool.
If your phone has not been Modified or rooted, I would suggest you put the phone in the freezer for a while, take it out, root, put back in freezer for a few minutes, then install recovery and flash rom (CYANOGENMOD Ver. 7 Stable), afterwhich you can then follow my steps above.
On my device, if I change the CPU frequency to anywhere above 245Mhz, a few minutes afterwards the reboot cycle starts all over again. You can experiment to see how much your phone can handle. If it keeps on cycling again.......follow the steps.
I have noticed via means of a CPU temperature widget (available via Android Market), that once my CPU reaches a temperature of 26 degrees celcius, it would begin the boot loop.
I will try to find a way to possibly disable the CPU temperature sensor via a gmod script to see if that may resolve the issue.

Apparently I cannot edit my previous post anymore, so here's a new post.
I actually believe I've discovered the problem, and have concluded that it is a CPU related problem.
After flashing back the latest stock ROM using RSD Lite 4.9, I employed the use of widgets to monitor temperature, cpu scaling, etc. I noticed that when the CPU reached a certain temperature (approx. 26 degrees celcius) the unit becomes more unstable, especially when it is doing scaling (i.e. automatically scaling the CPU speed from 122Mhz to 528Mhz). Essentially the hotter the CPU gets the more unstable the device becomes when it's switching between the CPU frequencies.
NOTE however, that when you are using the CYANOGEN MOD V7 Stable ROM, you get no reading for CPU Temperature Sensors, however it's still there and working apparently. I have done tests with JR0dd's Preclair 1.6 ROM and CYANOGEN MOD and what I'm about to tell you works with either ROM. With JR0dd's version though, the CPU Temperature Sensors gives a reading with associated widgets.
So what I've done was return to CYANOGEN MOD V7 Stable ROM, installed Advanced Task Killer (Set it to Agressive Mode) and ensure that ATK is removed from one of the selected apps, because you don't want it to commit suicide (i.e. kill itself). ATK was also configured to kill apps at a frequency of every 30mins. I also installed Juice Defender and set it to Aggressive Mode as well and made sure to unselect that also from ATK so that it won't get killed.
Last but not least, I installed No-Frills CPU Control and set my Min and Max to 245Mhz, set the Governor to Conservative and I/O scheduler to noop. I applied the settings and ensure that the Set On Boot box was checked. In the settings I also checked the Disable Safety Valve box. I also excluded this app from being killed via ATK.
And that's about it. Since I've done this the phone has been pretty much stable. No reboots, even when charging overnight. Once I did this, there was no need to refrigerate the phone again to get it to work.
Keep in mind though, to reach this stage, you should follow my steps above, i.e. the whole refrigeration, rooting, installing custom rom, then you could install the apps I mentioned in this post.

For those who experience boot-loop or boot-freeze problem in the past when upgrading their phone to CM7.x, there's potential workaround for you to get it work on your phone now in case you have reverted your system back to the stock 1.5 after the disappointing attempt.
