I can't believe I did this!

I've searched as many forums as I possibly could past few days, but couldn't find an answer.

After installing CyanogenMod 7 on my HP Touchpad, I was trying to add a PIN for the lockscreen. After adding the PIN in Location and Security, I saw that you still had to slide the unlocker.

So I went into CyanogenMod settings, and saw that I could disable the lockscreen, but I had to choose the trackball or menu button to unlock it. Being the genius I am, I chose the trackball because I didn't want to unlock it my mistake. Now, I can't even enter my passcode. It stays on the lockscreen without any way to unlock it. What can I do to fix this? Or have I screwed myself?

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED! I was thoroughly enjoying my Touchpad til I did this :(

thanks for the response! i am a big time noob when it comes to this... how do you reflash? do i just follow the same steps i used on this link:

also, how do you reflash without losing apps? i went a bit crazy with the free apps on the app market and would be even more sad if i lost those too...

thanks again, any help would be a life saver :)

Ay. you can reflash using the same steps. Should be easiest way but no need to install all the files like on the first time - just CM7 file - skip mooboot, clockwork.

You can reflash it using clockwork as well:

  • Connect TP to PC via a USB cable and mount your tablet as a USB mass storage device.
  • Copy the CM7 file to the root directory of your device.
  • Press and hold the power button on your tablet.
  • Choose the Reboot option.
  • Select Recovery from the next menu.
  • Your tablet will reboot to ClockworkMod Recovery.
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll down to “install zip from sdcard.”
  • Tap the home button to select that option.
  • Tap the home button again to “choose zip from sdcard.”
  • Use the volume keys to scroll down and select the CM7 file.
  • Tap the home key to select.
  • From the next menu, use the volume keys and home key to select the “yes” option.
  • All done reboot:)

Your not going to loose any apps. all of them should be there after reflashing as your not gonna wipe the oled version - just rewriting it.

thanks for all the advice antichraldo...

i reflashed, followed all your directions step by step...reinstalled cm7 file from sd card... rebooted... however, i am back at the same initial load up screen. it is locked without the option of unlocking.

that was best suggestion yet, though... do you have any other possible recommendations??

  • Boot to clockwork
  • Wipe all/factory reset
  • reboot
You gonna loose all apps but it solves the issue.

I don't know a whole lot about ADB, but on the first Cyanogen TP preview, before the touchscreen was working, didn't the dev doing the demo send a command through ADB to trigger the unlock?  Too late for OP, I guess, but others checking this thread might look into that.

This happened to me, I can't get the lock enabled at all. If I remove the Tablet Tweak bypass, the lock screen comes up, but theres no way to enter the pattern or PIN, I've tried with both, there's just 'BLANKNESS' in the middle of the screen where the PIN or Pattern entry should be.

Anyway, you fix it like this:

$ ./adb -d shell
# cd data/data
# sqlite3 ./com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
SQLite version 3.7.2
Enter ".help" for instructions
Enter SQL statements terminated with a ";"
sqlite> update system set value=1 where name='lockscreen_disabled';
sqlite> .exit
# reboot

They're commands you enter into a root shell on your Cyanogenmod installation via adb. For which you need the Android devleoper kit installed. I can't go into the ins and outs of that part, but once you have adb, you run adb then do what I did, it's all documented there.

Ah okay.

Another thing you SHOULD do, is do a nandroid backup in clockwork mod. That's even faster to reinstall than TiBu, and you get your launcher settings back. Everything.

Everyone running CM on a Touchpad (or anything else really) /should/ have an up to date Nandroid backup. It makes sense :)
