Do not give up!!!
There are several bootloaders in the web.
Download one and flash it. I have done it in the past several times.
Start checking here:http://www.mod2xtrem...ead.php?t=10059

If you can live with it. Do it, otherwise live with motoblur. I would recomend THIS battery. 3500!!!!!! mAh instead of 1700!!! It makes your defy a little bigger but the battery lasts forever!!!

As far as I can tell from the pics the cover is not sealed (there seems to be an opening behind the open/close latch).. am I right you loose the water protection?

I am at the very first post here, so forgive if I ask stupid questions.
I am very interested in trying CM7 on my Defy+, it is a branded version of an Italian carrier.
So here the questions:
1) if I decide to go, I cannot understand if I have to follow the wiki or the instructions in this post or both, specially regarding rooting
2) If I go safe until the clockworkmod installation and do a back up of my branded/motoblurred android, I can restore it *in any case*? How?
3) if I (hope not) totally brick it will I face (payed) assistance on it from the carrier and/or Motorola?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

please consider voting on this issue:

http://code.google.c.../detail?id=4718

If there are enough votes we could persuade developers to do something with the battery issue.

Thanks.

(I am not getting cyanogenmod until Motorola Defy+ is supported)

I'm also just waiting the Defy+ official support to start using CyanogenMod.

Let's keep this post up and vote on the issue linked above!

Yes..it works like a charm. I'm using CM7.1 stable on my new defy+. Have a minor prob. The battery charges only upto 80%. but its not much of a problem though. If you think u can live with 80% battery life you must try CM on your defy+.

Step 1:Root your defy+ using superoneclick or using Doomlord's rooting script. Doomlord's rooting script can be found at
            http://forum.xda-dev...60#post18805560

Step 2: Download the Snd-init for defy from here(https://rapidshare.c...tDefy_1.4_2.apk) and install it on your defy+. Make sure you have rooted your phone. After the installation of Snd-int for defy, open it and click on install and say yes when asked for superuser permissions. This will install the clockworkmod on ur defy+ which is required for flashing custom roms.

step 3:Download the CM7.1 stable rom from here(http://download.cyan...rdan-signed.zip) and place it in ur SD card.

step 4:reboot ur phone..during the reboot press volume down button when your blue light glows on ur LED.

step 5:Navigate using ur volume buttons and press power button for selection. after that Goto recovery-->custom recovery and wipe the user data and factory reset..and goto advanced and clear the dalvik cache and battery stats.

step 6:go back and select install zip from SD card--->and select the CM7.1 rom.---> select yes..install.

step 7: after the installation go back and select reboot.

that is it..You have succesfully installed CM7.1 on ur defy+.

Note: After the installation, the first time startup may take 5-6mins. Make sure u wipe the factory data, dalvik cache and battery stats before installation.
Thank you.

Hi, I'm not sure I understood correctly. You mean this battery works OK with Defy+ too, there's no problem that it was originally built for Defy? It would also mean that the batteries from Defy and Defy+ are compatible, apart from a different charging method?

Galli - what I suggest is to take it to a Motorola Service Center - get the phone flashed. They will flash it with the SBF version which does not allow rooting. Dont worry about that - get it back and I will share the details of a rooted SBF.

CyanogenMod 10 ROM that has been released for Defy does work on Defy +, according to the  http://tutznet.com/u...mod-10-rom.html tut over here. It is covered that flashing CM10 and Gapps does work for both devices. I would recommend you to try out the same right now.
