Hello everyone. I'm new here and already asking questions.

My phone is Motorola Defy and it is rooted. Android version is 2.2.2. and model MBM525

I've tried to install Cyanogenmod for the phone many times but it just won't install.

Heres how the sory goes:

I start Rom MAnager v4.7.0.5

I choose Intall ROM from SD card then I choose the romupdate and the file  update-cm-7.1.0-jordan-signed.zip from the SD card.

Then comes the ROM PRE-Installation. I choose wipe data and cache and Wipe Dalvik cache.

Then I reboot to Recovery console or something like that.

First I chosee wipe cache partition. then I choose aply sdcard:update.zip

Heres the error then:

Quote

Insalling from SD card...
..Finding update package...
.verifying the update package...
..E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
-E:signature verification failed
..Installation aborted.
.E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log

What should I Do? only choice is reboot system now.  And then I'm back in square one.

Plrease, help

sincerly.

You are not flashing an update package you are flashing a rom. Probably you have to 1) backup your current rom so you have something to go back to 2) wipe cache, dalvik, then data IE factory reset 3)Install zip from SD card choose the zip and install it.

No what I mean is you are not installing an UPDATE you are installing a whole new ROM so instead of "install update from SD card" you want to "choose zip from SD card" then navigate to it and choose the filename of the rom,  then yes to install it. Depending on your phone you might have to flash Google apps too just wait until the install says its completed and pick "choose zip from SD card" again, find the gapps file you downloaded and install it. Then reboot. Its not an update to your current operating system (rom) its a whole new one.

In other words you were perfect on wiping data but then you chose apply update from SD card
WRONG
You should pick "choose zip file" etc instead.
