last night I set my phone on airplane mode just to see how many pourcent i will lose on my battery during night. before going to sleep my phone was at 99% but when i wakeup this morning it was at 76%.

so i verified in the bettery use section and the nfc had takes 96% of the battery. if you plan to put your nexus s in airplane mode, disable NFC first, just to be sure.

im using  cm 7.1.0 with original kernel

I have a similar problem where the Nfc Service drains lots of battery eventho i turned it off. I'm not quite sure why the phone does this.

It may be from you putting your phone on a credit card. Almost all modern credit cards has a chip attached, putting your phone near one of them activates your nfc chip. So if you put your phone on your wallet when going to bed, you probably have your answer.

Correct me if I'm wrong but NFC is only active if the screen is active. I leave my phone on my wallet all the time and it doesn't constantly try to read my Clipper Card. I doubt that NFC is that big a drain on your battery. I leave my NFC on by default and still get a full days use on one charge with medium use.

I've encountered this myself. For some reason with certain kernels the NFC Service just goes crazy and gets locked on, then proceeds to eat the hell out of your battery. It happened to me using the standard CM7 kernel and one third-party kernel. The current kernel I have (netarchy-nexus 1.4.1) does not have this problem, but I usually leave NFC off since I don't actually use it at all.

I don't use NFC at all and recently (couple of days after burning latest Cyanogen mod 7.1.0.1) I've put attention that my battery being drained by NFC, in spite the fact that I've never used it. Disabling NFC service doesn't help - it somehow being re-enabled again after some time.
What can be done to prevent it from starting (disable it permanently)?
Can such behavior be provoked by entering/exiting airplane mode? I use "Airplane AutoSwitch" app to automatically enter and exit airplane mode (at certain time).
Thanks!
