- browser is amazing!! it's fast! (I think as fluid as opera) and love the new tab implementations.
- adding of gmail account, not yet possible
- no Market app yet, sideloaded a Market apk, but doesn't work still
- widgets works fine (at least those I've tested)
- sdcard reading now possible
- oh, internet by 3G works now, by the way (that's why I was able to test the browser)
- No wifi yet (I think this is mentioned in Devil's blog)
- No bluetooth yet (this is also mentioned in Devil's blog)
- I see some cyanogenmod settings (it's CM9 anyway)
- Screenshot doesn't work well yet. it gives an error saying the storage is not available and being in use (So I can't yet show my friends i'm running ICS)
- sound is working, tried the Music app, and not much improvement (edit: I meant not much improvement for the Music app compared with the older app, but for the sound, all is working I guess -- notification sounds, music plays on the speaker, calls works fine)
- I love how the new calendar looks! it's working fine, but could not still sync my gmail account
- Calls and Text are working well
- Gallery is running, it's able to detect my media (sdcard), but thumbnails are still not showing, it can't open pictures or videos yet.
- No camera app yet, so I guess it's still not yet working
- The animation transition going from portrait to landscape is cool! (though a bit slow for now)
I'm really excited to have ICS permanently on my Legend! Though for now, I still need to go back to CM7.2..
EDIT: Thank you very much to the developer!
His name used to be Devil, but it now changed to Cofface.. or is it the same person? Thank you very much, still!

I tried testing the alpha 2.1, and here are my observations:
- since it has some issues with USB mass storage, a couple of things are not working yet, like screenshots, and viewing of gallery.
- Titanium backup works. you can restore apps.
- Maps doesn't work. I tried installing it directly from market.
- Gmail, google +, and other gapps works fine
- the physics when scrolling seemed to have changed (e.g. single flick on a web browser won't allow you to reach at the bottom of the page). I think something good if they want to improve the "fluidity" of the interface.
- I can turn on Wifi, but could not find Wifi settings (dumb me!), so wasn't able to connect to my wifi router. All the while, I was using my data plan.
- I love the new dialer! keys are much bigger (much much bigger!), and the HTC Sense-like dialer works as well.
- Editing of groups in contacts also is confirmed working in this ICS for legend.
- I could not find S2E in the Play Store, so I restored from titanium backup. Haven't tried moving /data to /sd-ext. But the options are there! so I'm assuming it should be working... I'm hoping..
- gtalk formatting changed a bit, but still no voice chat
(though i believe google really plans not to support legend on this, so it's google's fault)
Has anyone tried the Alpha 2.2? any of the items I mentioned not working already good in alpha2.2?

does this mean faster/easier ICS porting for Legend?

It definitely does. Alpha 3.0.1 has been available since April 6th.
I am using it right now and can say that it is the most amazing feeling having ICS on my trusty legend.
I used CM7.2 and while awesome it cannot compare to this alpha port.
Chrome beta doesn't work due to some hardware limitations, to be expected I think.
The camera is NOT working which is bad but not a deal breaker for me. I always have my trusty Samsung ST500 in my pocket.
I am uploading all the necessary files to Drop box and will provide a link once uploaded so that people can get them here without jumping onto XDA should they wish.

Actually, I've tried Alpha 3.0.1 a couple of days back, unfortunately, I always use my camera, so went back to CM7.2 (treecity's build). But as you have said, as its state now, it's already blazingly fast! smooth! How I wish the camera gets sorted soon, so I can permanently stick with ICS. Though at first I was constantly bootlooping after installing gapps, but managed to do something with it.
After testing the latest alpha, I went back to 7.2 using my ROM backup, but I was really impressed with the development with that ICS for our Legend!
I use S2E now (partitioned a portion of my sdcard as ext4), I have a lot of applications installed, so constantly moving to ROMs here and there is one thing I don't usually do. If i'll be changing ROM, I need to re-install all my 200+ apps using Titanium Backup..and it takes so much time re-installing them all.
I kept a ROM backup of that Alpha3.0.1, with all gapps and my account logged in, just in case I want to get back into it

If you get chance please log in to XDA and thank and/or donate to Zubea, I think we can all agree he has done an awesome job.

if you are using Alpha 3.0.1, no need to flash the kernel, since Alpha 3.0.1 is using that same kernel. The said kernel is configured to run at 600MHz. Alpha 3.0.1 is meant to lower down the CPU frequency to 600MHz as a lot were having problems with the high frequency of previous alphas.

No probs. I had the kernel in there from a previous version forgot it was in there to be honest.
I am currently using Alpha 5, http://goo.gl/mO9He, and have been using this ROM as my daily driver since 3.0.
The camera is now working although there is no video functionality.
I will share some inverted apps that I use. I only kept the PlayMusic app though as its the 4.0 release instead of the 2.3 one.
Link to my Public Dropbox folder with all the Goodies. http://goo.gl/i7kPM
I,ve found that rather than flash the inverted gapps, I unzip on the SD card>inverted gapps folder>system>app>musicplayer
This gives you the full flavoured ICS Play Music experience.
