Way to silence all calls except specific contact?

I'm wondering if there's a way to put my phone in a silent mode that silences all calls except certain specific contacts.

I realize I can set custom ringtones for contacts. But what I want is to switch between a mode where all calls ring with the default ringtone and a mode where all sounds are silenced except specific select contacts.
