This is the journey of my N1 so far: Stock 2.2.2 -> OTA 2.3.4 ->  CM 7.1 RC1 -> MIUI for 2 months -> back to CM 7.1.0 stable.

Things I hated in MIUI(the reason I switched back to CM7):
  • The OS being iphone style
  • Even in pure English ROMs, Chinese characters kept appearing at times(themes, music player lyrics etc.)
  • Lack of customization(from a android phone's point of view - I couldn't remove stock apps!)
  • etc. etc.
However few things I loved in MIUI and missing in CM7:
  • FM radio did not require bluetooth to be ON
  • Flashlight shortcut from lock screen! I just need to press trackball once and then home soft button to turn it on. Now I have to press trackball(screen on), unlock the phone, find the widget and then torch glows.
  • Better camera & music quality, although I don't care much about it.
Annoyance in CM 7:

Blacklist. I know blacklist helps, but I hate it in the dialer. Most of the times while hanging up, I see the option "Add to blacklist" and I DO NOT WANT IT!! There's no extended settings for blacklist management and almost everyday I have to go to Call settings > blacklist and remove numbers that are automatically added somehow, without my knowledge. I know it's because of the dialer's blacklist option. Please help me to get rid of this, if there's any solution. Blacklisting must not be done automatically, it can be done manually!

Apart from this blacklist thing, I'd want to know if there's any option to get the MIUI features(listed above) into CM7. And did I tell you, that I just LOVE CM7 for everything else!!!

Thank you for your help :)

I use CM7 and use the gesture lockscreen, and have a gesture bound to start the torch app, which I can make with my thumb.

Don't know anything about the blacklist issue, I never see it.

Aah! Thanks!! I always thought of trying those gestures but never did! Thanks for the tip!

That's unbelievable, I always get that "add to blacklist" pop up while hanging up, and many times I have to clear my blacklist! :( Anyone else have seen this?

Any idea why CM7 uses bluetooth for FM radio but MIUI doesnt?

I have never had the blacklist issue either... but half the time, my friends hang up the phone before I ever get a chance to. But I have been using CM for over a year and have never "accidentally" added someone to the blacklist (although, I did definitely tell a few people it was by accident).

And with the FM Radio, it may be that the MIUI dev team were able to better design the app, but my guess is they just hid the fact that bluetooth was on. My understanding is that it is a hardware requirement to have bluetooth running for the FM Radio to operate.

And I have never had any issues with the camera. It seems to do everything I want it to, but I have never tried MIUI, so I have nothing to compare it to. And I don't use the stock music app. I have used PowerAMP for quite a while and have no desire to switch to anything else.
