I'm having issues installing the stable release of 7.1 from 7.0.3. The rom downloads just fine, however when the device reboots to install it just sits on the Motorola logo screen for a while before rebooting back into 7.0.3. Thoughts?

How did you dl? ROM Manager or PC? I would make sure I did a nandroid backup, Back up all apps and data (I prefer Tianium for this) then re-download ROM and GAPPS, making sure to wipe dalvik/cache/everything.
Will reset everything, but I find it best way to switch versions. (As if I was switching ROM's). If you follow this method, if/when you restore from Titanium, only restore "user apps"(and data if wanted), never "system apps"....
Hope this helps!

I had the same issue as above, down loaded a fresh copy of the 7.1 file and placed it on the device, reflashed Clockwork Recovery Mod and it started installing. How long is it supposed to take ti finish, its been sitting at the screen with the blue droid and circle arrow for a while now, the droid animation stops every once in a while and starts over again...
Motorola
Droid
Android Version 2.2.2
Baseband Version C_01.43.01P
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-g68eeef5 android-build@apa26 #1
Build Number FRG83G
I should also add that I bought and installed Titanium backups as well as ROM Manager and made backups of everything before I did anything. I'm restoring the device now but I believe it was looping on boot, I read something about that in the FAQ. So maybe I need a new Kernel, is there a suggested Kernel for this?

Did you reboot after flashing Clockwork? It will not work if you did. (found out the hard way) If you did reboot, reflash and reinstall.

Thank you much for posting this. I rebooted after flashing Clockwork and couldn't get my phone to flash the ROM, couldn't figure out why until I read your post.
