there's already an alpha build from ICS source for the SGS over on xda. ;)

Do we need ICS? I think that al the fancy new features in ICS can be ported without the need to go to android 4.0. I don't want to loose good battery life! (it's not going to become better with ICS) Let's face it: you chance the software but not the hardware... (ICS probabely needs a big fat GPU)

The battery life on ICS on SGS devices is no worse than it was on CM7 on SGS.

edit: should also add the Galaxy Nexus uses the same GPU as the Galaxy S and Nexus S

I stand corrected! :huh:   (or so i hope :) )

Reports are that ICS is a bit sluggish on the SGS. Hope to see Cm7-kinda-speed on CM9.. (or else i would stay at cm7)

CM7 was an eye-opener for me.. (no more lag, even without a lag-fix!) I never want to see lag again on my SGS...
