I was tweaking some performance settings in CM7 - you know, in that menu location where it warns about dragons?  Well, I changed a VM heap setting and rebooted my phone which became stuck in an infinite loop of reboots.  What sucked was the fact that I was traveling and really needed my phone so my only choice was to reinstall the factory ROM using Clockworkmod's restore feature.

I'd like to get back to CM7 again with all my native apps installed.  I had performed a Titanium backup a few months back but now I can't get to it.  What do I need to do to restore my phone to CM7 and get everything back exactly like I had it?

For future reference, you should always have a known working backup of any rom you may want to restore (your fully setup CM7 install in your case) so that you can just restore it from recovery if anything detrimental happens. So once you do get it the way you want again, remember to use recovery to make a backup of your working CM7 install.

It should also be noted that there was really no reason to restore the stock rom. All you had to do was clear data/cache from recovery to fix your bootloop.

That said...Since you said you apparently used CWR to restore (and we're not talking about you having sbf'ed) then at this point all you need to do is download CM7 again (manually or via RomManager) and flash it and the optional GApps. (described under Flashing Cyanogenmod in the wiki http://wiki.cyanogen...ing_CyanogenMod)
After that boots you will then need to install TitaniumBackup (from market, the apk, or update.zip) so that you can restore your apps and data.

Newbie question.  Just rooted my Motorola Droid for the first time yesterday.  Installed a few of the must haves, and then went to get the CWM Rom using Rom Manager.  What should I see when I first upload the CWM Rom?  Everything I used to have is gone, including the apps I just installed yesterday once rooted.  I feel like perhaps something is wrong, but maybe I need to start from scratch on loading contacts, etc.  All I have is a grayish looking desktop and google.  I no longer have Rom Manager.  The one thing that I do have is super user.  Am I hosed or is this normal?  I would like to revert to yesterday's restore but even that is going wrong (getting the white triangle with the exclamation point).  Help is appreciated!

If you wipe data/cache when flashing a new ROM for the first time (not a minor upgrade) then all your apps and data will be erased. While you can occasionally (read rarely) get away with swapping roms without wiping this, it is recommended to reduce user panic since not wiping in this situation has a high likely-hood of bootlooping or causing other problems (FCs, etc) which can be time-consuming to diagnose.
Some of the hastle of reinstalling can be alleviated by using an app such as TiBu that backs up your installed apps and their data which you can restore after wiping.

The missing apps are expected. Sometimes (although it doesn't always work), once signed in to your previous Google account, Market will automatically install your apps again but as I said...this doesn't always happen. As far as contacts, if you had your previous settings set to backup your data to Google then your contacts should automatically restore (if you have a data connection) once you sign in using your previous Google account as well.

It sounds like you flashed a ROM other than CyanogenMod. CM includes RomManager while some other roms do not. You can just download it from Market now if you would like to stay with your current rom.

This will be the first thing you will want to deal with. It sounds like you need to reflash recovery. You can use either of the methods mentioned in the Wiki page for flashing ClockworkMod Recovery.
Or you can just reflash using RomManager once it is installed on your current rom (http://forum.cyanoge...post__p__199667).
Once CWR is reflashed, you should have access to your previous backups.
