I am not sure if this problem is related to CM7.1. With latest version of skype (2.5.0.160), my nexus one reboot (to the "X" screen) when I login using the skype app. The problem occurs 9 out of 10 times. I have encountered the problem with both the stable CM7.1 and the latest nighties. I have googled around and have not yet noted a similar problem. Other functions are working great on my phone. have you guys encountered a similar problem or have any idea?

When it goes to the "X" screen, that is a hard reboot which means things went pretty bad. Check /proc/last_kmsg after booting back up and see if that sheds any light as to what may be causing it.

The government likes to block a lot of websites on their computers to "increase" productivity... But the second site did work.

Looking through it, I can't see anything that screams that it is your problem. But as you have said, it doesn't seem like it is an issue out there, so it sounds like it is probably some screwed up software or setting on your device. First thing I would try is to go into recovery, wipe the /system partition and then reinstall CM and gapps. This won't cause any data loss. If that doesn't work it may be easiest to just wipe the phone and start fresh. But you can back up your apps and app data with a program like Titanium Backup. Just don't back up Skype or any system settings as restoring those could bring your problem back.

And just to verify, you have completely removed Skype and reinstalled it, right? (This is different than just upgrading/downgrading versions)

Thanks, bassmadrigal. I removed skype in "manage application" and installed from the market for several times. Then i uninstalled the app and installed a 1.0 version.

Let me try wiping the system. Hope this works. Will report back later :)

By the way, I use Link2SD (skype has always been in the internal storage though). Do you think the linked apps will mess up after I do a system wipe and reinstall CM?

Sorry about the delay. The internet at work has been really bad today and sites haven't wanted to load. I am not familiar with how Link2sd works, but if it is a flashable zip, then you would need to flash that after you flash CM and gapps. I moved to S2E quite a while back and I feel it is the best way to utilize an ext partition. It moves all apps (and other things you select, like app-private and dalvik cache) the the sdcard. It is just an app you install from the market, so whenever you make any changes to your system partition, your app2ext stuff stays unaffected.

No luck with system wipe and re-flash. Will try factory reset later.

By the way, link2sd works fine even after system wipe and re-flash. Just need to recreate mount scripts, reboot, (link dalvik-cahe and reboot) x2 to 3 times (since I have many apps on 2nd parition).

My camera did not work previously. The stock camera app was able to load its interface (but without the 6 control icons located at the bottom of the screen) and I was not able to take any photo either with the stock app or other apps (Camera 360 etc...). Then, I deleted the "DCIM/.thumbnails" directory as suggested by a user of ROM manager. The camera works again. But I am not sure if the skype issue is related to the camera.

I've been trying to use Skype ever since it first appeared for Android, this latest version that I installed not long ago is the first one that actually works, but my guess is the problems listed here are probably some sort of application bug.  No doubt now it's a Microsoft product things will be downhill from here, particularly for the Android app.....

Problem solved! I factory reset my phone and reflash CM7. Immediately, I installed Skype from the market. It works perfectly fine upon login. Then, I started to manually restore my system setting according to my memory. Interestingly, the login-reboot problem occurred again. Thus, I reverted the system setting one by one to sort out the problem. It turned out to be a problem caused by overclocking. Previously, I overclocked the CPU to 1113Mhz through "Cyanogenmod settings/Performance/CPU Settings". Since I lowered the frequency back to 998Mhz, everything has worked fine! So, it is not microsoft/skype problem for this one time :P

What do you guys think? Can't the N1 be stably overclocked to 1113Mhz? Or is it a problem caused by overclocking with CM7 setting which can be solved by using other apps, e.g. SetCPU?

Yeah... it takes quite a lot of time to restore the phone after the factory reset... :( But I will go abroad very soon.I was so desperate to have skype fixed so that I can connect with my family. Having enjoyed CyanogenMod for so long, glad that I can contribute a little bit to other users.

Had to lower mine to 1075mhz some time ago to prevent random reboots.  I guess this means Skype is something of a cpu hog, which isn't a great surprise.
