Ok, ignore the posts below as they are from before I changed this topic. I thought opening another one just for a question like this wasn't necessary.

On XDA, there is a CM9 ROM but I'd like to run one from CyanogenMod instead of some random aosp build. When will it be here, you think? I have checked the blog and the last post which was from the 2nd of December told of great success.

There isn't a way to port anything Sense related to CM, because you are required to have a ton of Sense related things in the actual framework. Porting takes existing files and attempts to get them to work with hacks. CM is source based and they actually require access to the sourcecode to incorporate it properly into the ROM.

You can sometimes find Sense-like addons on the market, but nothing to fully replicate a Sense environment on CyanogenMod.

Alrighty then. Any tips on good (preferably awesome) Sense 3 launchers?

No clue... I have never been a fan of Sense. I currently use GO Launcher EX and used ADW EX in the past.

I haven't ever used Sense before. I just like the smooth look of it ^^

CM9 will come when it is ready. The dev team is not willing to give out ETAs. Anything given to you is just a guess and probably isn't very accurate.

Ok. Something tells me we will have CM9 in a relatively stable form within two months from now.

Does anybody know how the CM9 team plans to handle the N1's limited memory?  Is it just a matter of running more stuff off of the SD card, and if so, will we need more than the original 4GB card?

Most likely it will require repartitioning our internal memory and get rid of most of the space taken by the /cache partition. The way to do this is using Blackrose. There is a thread on xda about how to use it.

I have no guess as they haven't even started the nightlies for it. I believe they are still trying to get full hardware acceleration on the phone. That is probably a major holdback on the release. But according to a lot of reports, the stuff they have available makes a pretty decent, stable build. There is an unofficial release on xda in the N1 development section that is being headed up by samuaz. According to the people in the thread, the ROM runs great.

Thanks for mentioning that, I didn't know about samuaz's MeDroid ROM!  I just flashed it, and it is actually surprisingly good!  Even without the hardware acceleration, the interface is at least as smooth as Gingerbread/CM7.  I think I will be staying on this ROM until CM9.
