....and I'm working.  Not really sure which thing helped, since I've been stupidly testing by starting up the Android Market and believing when it said there was no network. I started the Dolphin browser to be sure it wasn't working, and of course it is!

So - thanks for the help!

Wifi buddy seems to work so far, but it's reporting the open network I connect to as being WPA....

I found that that command only works temporarily. It doesn't work once you turn Wifi off again. I've found a solution that actually works. This solution is to change your router settings to a channel 1-5. Don't keep the channel of your network in 6-11 or it'll always have trouble reconnecting. Hope this helps!

I know this will not work for everyone, but it worked for me.
  • I changed the WiFi channel on my router to #5. (I checked and made sure that there ware not an overlap or interference with a neighbor.)
  • I changed the advanced option on the Regulatory Domain to allow for 11 Channels.
Once I had both configured, the WiFi on the Touchpad lit right up. If I change either options, the WiFi has issues connecting.

I understand that not everyone can change to one of the Channels 1-5, however, if possible, try to make these adjustments. It has been working now for 3 days straight without fail. Before the changes, I had less than a day of stable connectivity. Maybe there is something with the driver for the WiFi modem? I'm not sure exactly, but as long as I have these both set, I'm good!

Thanks guys!

@monkeydodo3 + @JOTT

Thank you so much! The changes to the network router you mentioned solved my connection issue!

Wifi has no more issue connection, even after reboot or after turning it off and turning it on again =]

I have researched the issue a lot and one problem that I can verify is that if there are multiple APs with the same SSID, Wifi will get confused and lock up.  I never have a problem with Wifi at home.  At work, it is useless, so I did a lot of experimenting.  The Wifi code needs to be rewritten or different code used to fix the problem.  Whatever the base code for Wifi is, it is missing a lot of functionality.

Another issue is that you cant easily change the "hostname" and the default on on CM9 seems to be an issue.

This happened to me for about a week after installing then disappeared. I used to simply turn on airplane mode then  turn it off and everything would reconnect. This resets the wifi. Haven't had any issues since, but thanks for your terminal solution!

The Airplane Mode trick just worked for me on CM9 0.6a  Thanks!

I don't know if this is at all helpful (and may be more superstition than real engineering).  I noticed that my TP could find my neighbor's wifi more easily/quickly than it could find mine.  (And my router is in the same room with me.)

The difference was, my wifi is WEP encrypted, and theirs is WPA.  So I switched my router to WPA and my TP immediately found and connected to my router.

Like I said, this could be more chanting and chicken-bone shaking than real triage, but it worked for me.

Unfortunately, none of this has helped my problem. I hope the next mod version has an update to the Wifi driver.
