The old FAQ (http://forum.cyanoge...msung-galaxy-s/) indicates that the phone should be on Android 2.2 before flashing... the Wiki-based FAQ (http://wiki.cyanogen...g_Galaxy_S:_FAQ) states that Android 2.2 isn't necessarily needed, but the how-to guide won't work otherwise... and the Full Update Guide (http://wiki.cyanogen...ll_Update_Guide) indicates that it "assumes the Samsung Galaxy S already has Android 2.3 or higher installed on it" and makes no mention of downgrading to 2.2 before flashing CM7.  Some other guides elsewhere state that you MUST be on 2.2, others don't mention it, and some indicate you need 2.3...

Is there a definitive answer on what stock firmware version should be running on the phone before flashing?  Or have the later versions of CM7 removed any need for particular stock versions?
