I was wondering if it was possible to set custom LED notifications based on Kernel events?  What I'm hoping to achieve is to have my LED indicator (in the trackball) Flash Green when transfering via WiFi, and flash Red while transfering via 3G, similar to the WiFi LED on PSP or PS3 (or on a Laptop, you sometimes have a LED that blinks during transfer)...  That way, I can know if an upload/download is done without turning on/unlocking the screen.

I could write an application/plugin for this, but I figured I should ask before wasting my time creating a feature that already exists.  AFAIK you can set custom colors for different programs, but if the program does not use the LED notification, it's useless...

Does anyone know if such a feature exists?

Edit: the colors could change, I just used green and red as examples...

Guys,

Is it possible to speed up the blinking of the LED Notifications in CM settings? I put the blinking rate to 2, the lowest (and fastest) blinking speed. Before CM got this LED notifications included in the ROM I used to use lilhermit's Trackball Alert, which blinks slightly faster.

Could someone point me in the good direction as to what file we have to edit to manually increase the blinking speed? I assume it's just a matter of changing values.

I know my question is different from the OP's request, but I believe further extension of the LED Notifications customization in CM settings could address these issues.
