Hello
this is the first time i am using this blog..actually i recently shifted from stock to CM7. i was really excited as i was always running out of space on stock.
so i flashed CM 7.1 using latest clockmod recovery and ROM manager.
Before flashing i also made a partition using ROM manager of 512MB and did a data cache wipe.
After flashing i installed S2E but it keeps on asking SU permission on the startup and even i allowed it permanent permission it keeps on asking permission for the same event. Then i pressed back button several times and it comes back to S2E main screen but shows EXT - - .i think it is not detecting EXT.
Besides this, the stock launcher i.e ADW Launcher is pretty lame,,, i had a couple of Lags and phone often freezes.
Apps including camera and gallery.often donot run and i had to reboot a number of times to bring them back to work.
I cannot install apps directly from Market on PC. it shows that them app has been send but it doesnot appear on phone.
I had heard a lot of good abt this ROM but i am pretty dishearted.
Plz Help.
Also i made a backup using ROM manager nandroid. also help how can i return to stock using this backup it the above problems cannot be solved.
PLZ HELP... :'(

Hey Mohsin
you need to install google apps for Android http://wiki.cyanogen...ion/Google_Apps. Install it from clockwork mod recovery by selecting install zip from sdcard. You'll be able to use google apps like market, gmail etc. you'll also be able to sync your contacts and stuff with your google account.
Secondly, did you restore your app data using titanium backup or any other data restore app? Cause it happened to me as well and my apps kept crashing. If so you need to reflash the ROM. And do not restore user data!
Lastly if you want to go back to stock ROM there are guides for that too. Just search for your phone model and stock ROM version.
Best of luck.

It sounds like you didn't do a full wipe when moving from stock to CyanogenMod. You need to wipe both the /system partition and do a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. Then reinstall CM and gapps and you should be running smooth.

is there a way that we can use CM7 and stock launcher or another launcher like GOLAUNCHER EX. Can we uninstall ADW?

Did this full wipe include MANUALLY wiping the /system partition? Doing the wipe through ROM Manager does not do this. And since I don't know whether you are running Amon_RA or ClockworkMod recovery, I don't even know if your recovery has the option for it (Amon_RA doesn't include any way to wipe the /system partition).
And you can use any launcher you like. The stock launcher that comes with shipped Gingerbread devices is not the one available in the AOSP sources. It is actually closed-source and there isn't anyway to include it in CM. The one that is included in the AOSP source is garbage, and the one included in CM is substantially better. But you are able to install any launcher you like and set it as the default. There really is no reason to remove the stock ADW since it resides on the /system partition and you won't free up any space for more apps by removing it.

There has been no official word on this yet. There is two different alphas available on xda for ICS, but both are not fully functioning (although, they are close... the main thing is a missing camera and full 3D acceleration). But most likely, running CM9 will require repartitioning the internal storage.
