I would like to ask what is the progress with CM9 (Android 4 based) for Nexus One?
Is there any beta soon?
What is your estimation for a RC or stable version?

Thanks

Fellow CM noob here, but it looks like i have read up a little more on CM. The first rule of CyanogenMod is that you don’t ask for an ETA.

Whenever someone posts a question like this I am always tempted to post "It'll be out tomorrow" just to see what happens.

while not asking for ETA, a more general question:

do you think CM is planning to make a release for nexus one at all?

Last I heard, they were indeed planning an N1 release.  While they don't give ETAs, I wish there was a list of what has been completed so far, and what they have yet to get working, or something.  I'm dying for new information!

hate to say this, but as far as I've checked the code review, the last time anyone has touched nexus one was back on nov 14th. being now on end of jan, it will make it 2.5 months since anyone in CM team has ever thought about our phone. (being the code-name passion):

I'm hoping you're wrong but it's not looking too good is it?  The Nexus One is still featured on the main page as a flagship for CyanogenMod.  Having it run ICS would be a good show to Google and the rest of the community.

Thanks

Well, if this is the case, maybe we should post a topic in another area, it doesn't look like any developers are reading the Nexus One section.

As a true nexus one user. Were is the new CM? I am already running the last version for almost a year now. Really want to start using ICS. Also me video camera do not work atm. I was expecting a feb release but totally nothing not even nightly builds... How long is this gonna take? Maybe its time to start searching for a new phone. But still I am a CM user since the beginning with nexus one. So I hope I can use the new version soon.

You won't see CM9 for the N1 soon if ever. There are some other ICS roms for the N1 you can try if you are interested in testing.

Beware that these roms require a change in the allocation of space of the internal flash memory which might brick your phone if you do it wrong. Search for the blackrose thread on xda for details.

I've done the above, and experimented with both texasice and meedroid ICS roms and they both seem to work ok from my limited testing, however they aren't "stable" yet.  For my purposes, I rolled back to temasek's latest CM7 Kang.

Its been said before that there wont be an official release of CM9 for Nexus one.

However, there have been ICS ROMs for the N1 available for some time now... look it up on XDA.

There's evervolve's texasice, which is the most up to date one, there's a MIUI ICS ROM too, there is another one based on CM9's code + texasices..... and they're all pretty stable (main prob is the video not working yet, but most other things are working fine)

I don't think that it has ever been said before that there wont be an official release of CM9 for Nexus one.

In February 2012 the cyanogen blog stated:

Quote

It’s still unclear if we can provide support for the QSD8x50 family of devices (Nexus One, HTC Evo, etc), but the answer almost always turns out to be “yes” for these kinds of things.

And now the most recent update (CyanogenMod June 12, 2012 post on Google+) is saying:

Quote

# Nexus One: For the time being, the N1 will not be supported. We can get it to build/boot/run, but the hacks required break Google's CTS, so until that is rectified, you won't see any build with CM's official stamp of approval.

So, while the future is uncertain, one can still hope!   ;-)

Don't waste your time hoping and waiting for an official release as it's unlikely.

Like I mentioned before, there are already roms available , based on CM and with most of the hacks already figured out and more than sufficiently stable enough as a daily driver.

I'd love to see an official release, but in the meantime, evervolve/texasice's rom does the trick
