Hello,
I am now using Cyanogen 6 and wonder if I should flash Cyanogen 7 ?
Can you tell me what will be the benefits ?
I have an old Nexus 1 Google.
The only problem i have with my actual mod is that the camera sometimes freezes when I push the button to take a photo.
Everything else is perfect.
Thank you for your help.
And what about Ice cream sandwich for Nexus 1, should I wait a stable release or it might never come ?

CM6 is based on Froyo and CM7 is based on Gingerbread. Google fixed a lot of bugs and added features when they came out with the newer versions, and CM fixed even more bugs and added a ton of new features. I have been running incremental versions for so long that I couldn't tell you all the exact changes, but I could never go back to CM6. I couldn't even go back to CM 7.0 and be happy. I gotta hand it to the devs... every release has been a true improvement over the previous ones.
As for Ice Cream Sandwich... There will never be a stable release from Google, and it is not yet known if CyanogenMod will support the N1 with an official stable release, but the speculation is that they will. There has already been a lot of work done on xda for ICS on the N1, and it has been progressing well. Even if we never see an official CM version, there will always be unofficial ones. I have yet to try any of these out, but I have been following the threads closely and people are already using it as their daily driver.

The best thing to do is to wipe the phone completely when upgrading major versions (from CM6 to CM7 or CM7 to the hopefully soon to be released CM9). But you can back up all your apps and app data with a program like Titanium Backup. Just don't back up any system settings, as restoring those can cause you a lot of problems.
