Saw this exchange on twitter, seems we're not too far from a CM9 alpha for the Gtablet :)

@pixeladdikt: @pershoot hey r u running ICS on your gtab?

@pershoot: @pixeladdickt yea. Hd video and cam are remaining for cm9, and some other small things. Once hd vid is sorted, we'll try to get an alpha out.

I was thinking about it, and it's also possible they were referring to the Galaxy tab. Hope not though lol

It would be nice if it is for us! I like my Gtab, it sucks that Viewsonic had such a great idea and then let it fall behind. Sometimes I think they literally did it on purpose because they know that CM and other devs would jump on it due to it's capabilities and make it work for the rest of us anyway. But then again, why not make drivers and all the other needed things so that the devs can get it cracking ya know..... BTW, I was in 1st ID and now I'm in USAREC lol... take care brother.

Not sure if you guys read the other forums or not but ya I've been running the alpha build of ICS for 3 days now. So far soo good, much smoother than anything else ive tried on it.
Of course theres a bunch not working but they are working on that. They've put alot of work into this already.

I would love to get in on the Alpha on this.  Not sure how one would even apply.  I had a ball troubleshooting the Honeycomb stuff on my G-tablet.  I am seeing alot of ICS kernels out there for the G-tablet and it always seems like the camera is the main issue.  Ah well.  I really look forward to seeing what CM does with the G-tablet.  I originally started with CM7 and ended up with "Flashback" on my G-tab for the longest time.  Would love to finally be able to move back to CM.

Keep up the good work guys and thank you for all your diligence.

Yeah, There is only one other team I am watching working on a ICS install for the G-tablet.  The same team that did Flashback for the Tablet.  They are pretty close, just working out kinks.  Apparently there is a problem with our tablet and external SD Cards.  When the SD Card is in the touch screen and ROM goes a bit unresponsive.  Funky.  Anyhow, I am getting really excited.  I would love to be able to switch back to CM on both my Tablet and my Phone.  Just seems smarter.  We will see what the future brings!

I have been watching this thread http://www.slatedroi...s-40x-team-drh/ over at slatedroid, they are going to be release a beta ICS rom pretty soon. Hopefully all their hard work also helps speed up a CM9 build :)

Updated: I've been running ICS on my gtablet for little over a day now. It's still buggy but it's an early beta preview release. Hardware acceleration is working great for video and the UI. Took a little while to change from bootloader 1.1 to 1.2 but it was worth it, ICS is a huge improvement for this tablet.

ICS is an improvement in some ways, not in others.
I'm still reading the (75page) thread over on Slate Droid, before I report my issues. So far though, I'm not impressed. I've used Froyo, GB, and HC based roms on the tablet. Most of them over-look some pretty key functions that CM does not.

There are a few "Known Issues" with this ROM that make it really sit in the beta category.

Bluetooth isn't working at all. It won't even "turn on" via the UI.
Wifi doesn't turn back on, if you ever turn it off, or use airplane mode.
The camera doesn't work at all
HD Games crash, or run off, or get "stuck"
The microphone doesn't work at all
There is no dictionary installed. The user must teach the tablet every word

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to see progress, and want to totally encourage everyone, but it's a little sad to see fundamental stuff over-looked.

There are other issues, and I'm trying to get logcat output of when they happen, so I can report them formally on the right forum.

They have released a few builds and the latest one is quite nice, very stable and pretty fast too. They have also fixed a bunch if issues. The camera still doesn't work but there is a possibility that will be fixed in the future. Keep in mind this a beta preview, it's still a work in progress.

They released the last build on 3/1/12 so there is probably going to be a new one released fairly soon. Very pleased with the progress they have made.

http://www.slatedroi...-update-030112/   I installed this one in my Gtab, everything is good in this beta1.1 (Android 4.0.4) I don't no why adobe content viewer  crashes in this beta1.1 ROM even though ICS having V8 Crankshaft compilation engine for JavaScript :(
