Using the stock firmware, even in my own house, it keeps insisting on roaming. this is getting annoying, I can't dial *2 to call Sprint without it dropping, can't even call traffic info (511) without it connecting... and as I said in another thread, NO ONE can call me due to the roam status...

So what is going on here? I've updated my profile/PRL three or four times now...

EDIT: I tried calling Sprint customer service and instead I keep picking up CRICKET... WTF?

This happens to me as well. It was happening to me long before I rooted, and continues no matter what ROM I'm on. It seems to happen most frequently indoors, which leads me to believe the system might switch to roaming automatically when Sprint service is weak or nonexistent.
I would advise Going to Wireless&Network Settings > Mobile Networks and changing your roaming mode to Sprint Only.
You might lose service completely in some areas where it would automatically switch to roaming, but I've found that most of my roaming switchovers happened simply because Sprint service in the area was 1x (no 3G coverage).
Hope this helps :)

Yeah, since then I did disable all the roaming that I can disable and complained to Sprint. I since got an Airwave. Other than the ocassional intermittent error code 34 class 2 when sending texts, it's been a dream :)
