I removed the Mms.apk and the dex file but when I try to adb install the Mms.apk from cm, I get this:

Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]

I tried from 6.0-N1 and 6.1rc3. I'm on the XXJPH 2.2 froyo firmware. How can I get more information about this error?

Got it: http://forum.xda-dev...105#post8200105

This has been added to the original post.

Is there a way to get the CM6 boot animation on the Vibrant? If so, what are the steps?
Thanks...

To my knowledge the point thats holding us back is the kernel/system from samsung. They used a .QMG file for the animation which is a Quram custom commercial codec that we apparently cant get our hands on to recode new ones. More than likely this would be a feature available on CM6.1 but it appears that theres no way to do it without that codec, and we cant get ahold of it.

All our users who are waiting for froyo , please note that froyo is expected to launch by end of this month. No exact dates are confirmed.

Nothing new, but it's something.

Note the critical inclusion of the word "expected" to cover their collective ass if it doesn't come out by the end of this month.

Hey, TheGenericAsian,

I was thrilled to see your GPS workaround posted a while back. I followed the steps and found... well, no particular improvement for my situation, but was glad for something to try nonetheless. (For reference, I had been, and *still am* seeing a hella navigation thinking I was  500 m right or left of my actual location, causing no end of grief driving in unknown areas.)

I also installed the Samsung upgrade 1, made available here on cyanogenmod. Despite your review, I've found it helpful in many ways.

I'm frustrated, however, that when I return to this post regarding the GPS issues in the Vibrant. I wanted to confirm that my system settings were "what they should be" (i.e., what Samsung prefers) rather than what you suggested, which didn't do much for me. Sadly, when following the same steps I did when executing your suggestions, I found I could not see the system settings I did originally.

That's not a big deal, really. I understand the impact of installing the "update 1" firmware. Really, I do. But I'm rather ticked at the message I saw, *after* re-following your "Make The Vibrant Software Not Suck" instructions. "Pay attention next time" is all you say when you address people who have "update 1" installed and try to check their GPS settings.

Well, you are cordially invited to s&$*k my p*5@$%!s, mister. You make no mention of how GPS settings may or may not be changed in your introduction. All you need to say is that you don't know the freaking code to unlock those settings in update 1. Jesus. I hope you have better interpersonal skills in other realms, cause this kind of thing would lose you a job if I were hiring you.

Hey man, I know this guy was being a total jerk, but you're just making a bad situation worse here.  Calm down and please don't feed the trolls.  If you think someone is out of line, then click on the little red button to give him a -1 (as I already have).  If you think he's waaaaay out of line and may have derailed the whole thread, then click on the button to report it to the moderators.  Please don't take the flamebait.  This isn't the place to fight fire with fire.

You may be more interested in installing Bionix (http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=782027), which is my official stance on making your Vibrant not suck anymore (I'm surprised this thing is still stickied, because Bionix pretty much obsoletes everything in this post, sans changing the boot noises.)

I am very sorry if I offended you, but I will have to decline your offer to "s&$*k" your "p*5@$%!s". Thank you for the offer.

Do you have to un-install the Calendar and Calendar Storage before it will let you install the ones talked about in this post? When I try to install it they fail.

ORIGINALLY POSTED: http://forum.cyanoge...4917#entry84917
Hey guys I have been impatiently watching the forums(cm & xda) for the tried and true cm release. Therefore I have followed most of the steps in
the popular "How to make your vibrant not suck" page. The results are pleasing, how ever amongst bugging the hell out of the Google search
engine I havnt found the answer to one question. Is it safe\possible to push cy's better browser from say the nexus rom to my stock(rooted)
galaxy software? Has any body tried this with positive results? Special steps? Just rm & mv? What version(eclair-cm5,froyo-cm6)? Will this
affect the stock DIVX and Flash addons in a negative way? I am aware that we can use other apps from cy's roms but I dont know how dependent the
system is on the browser. I thank you for your time and efforts in advance and apologized if this was posted some where else.

TMO USA - Vibrant - Stock ROM (update1) - ROOTED - PRIOR:mt3g (cm all versions)

P.S. I dont care too much for dolphin therefore have uninstalled it, great browser just not my cup of tea. prefer stock browser just cant stand
alt bright settings and would love to see the fullscreen option

I wasn't thrilled with the neon pink boot animations so I obtained the animations from a unbranded Galaxy S.

Extract the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg from the attached zip to /sdcard or wherever works best just substitute wherever you extract them.

adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm /system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
rm /system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
busybox mv /sdcard/bootsamsung.qmg /system/media
busybox mv /sdcard/bootsamsungloop.qmg /system/media

Now when you reboot you will just receive the Galaxy S logo without the T-Mobile crap.

Note: Not 100% sure if these files violate any terms so if they do just delete them and I'll upload them somewhere else.

Edit: Typos
lol - my first post here, but thanks, this worked great!
