Hey, does anyone know if there are any projects involving the HTC [Droid] Thunderbolt and CM9 ICS? I just put CM9 alpha 0.5 on my HP Touchpad and it is AMAZING to say the least, so I was wondering if there are any plans to port it 2 the Thunderbold. I would love 2 have it. If anyone could offer any assistance or could point me to another thread that may cover this (not one that talks about CM7 btw) it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! :)

P.S: I also have a Droid Incredible and Droid Eris so I would like any info on CM9 4 either of those if available.

I have the touchpad and thunderbolt as well. I stopped using CM& on my thunderbolt a few weeks ago as i was having way too many widget crashes. I still have cm7 on touchpad. What benefit do you see in switching to cm9 on the touchpad? You say it is amazing and i am curious to hear your feedback.

Mate if there are any projects involved then i am 100% sure they will be in thunderbolt section @XDA.

You could request your community devs to build it up for you guys :)

Well for one the layout is much more aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion. In general I love the overall look of ICS over Gingerbread or even Honeycomb 4 that matter. One thing I like is how the App drawer is not at the bottom of the screen, and how on CM7 many times the widgets were on one side of the screen rather than centered. CM9 is one of the Best Alphas I have ever tried. Window animations and scrolling are pretty seamless (every once in a while u will press something you did not want 2 press while scrolling). Widgets never crash or FC (at least not 4 me) and my TP has only self-rebooted one time in the month or two that I have had CM9 on it. Browser is fast, and games(video+audio) are great, I wish the quality was better with games like Angry Birds but that is just a hardware issue so it can not be helped. Multitasking is so much better.

Downsides: Music plays fine, but when the screen goes off you hear a lot of distortion so of course you have 2 turn it back on or set display 2 never go off. Like the Devs mentioned, hardware accelerated video is not working. So that means no YouTube or Hulu, however going to YouTube through the Browser allowed me to watch Videos, just not in HD (would not load at all if I selected High Quality). There are minor WiFi issues: takes a while to connect, bars sometimes go grey and say "no connection" but reconnecting solves that, and WiFi seems to affect battery a lot if on for extended periods which is to be expected. Of course, camera is not working but 4 me that is not huge considering it is only front facing. Some Lag and screen flashes in Market, and every once in a while I get an error msg (ex. "Gallery has stopped working") 4 various apps. But after trying 2 re-enter the app a few times or killing the process, it normally works.

I have not seen any MAJOR problems with CM9 on the Touchpad. Especially considering it is in the alpha stage still. I have been carefully documenting every issue that comes up. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I was originally only going to test it out for a day but ended up loving it. Have only used WebOS maybe twice since. They make it extremely easy to update from CM7 to CM9. Just be sure to back up your apps and settings if u can. I did read, however, that some people have been having problems with backing up with Titanium Backup (@ least with the free version). So all-in-all, definitely worth testing. Well anyway, I hope all of that helped. :)

That's where it makes the difference mate.
Our section is full of legendary devs like Noejn (Now Knzo), Andy, Adam, Franisco Franco (Now he works in Galaxy Nexus Section) etc.
Just convince them to pull up the project ;)

Thank you for your detailed experience with CM9. It sounds like some of the same problems I have with CM7. Camera of course, audio when screen dims etc. I dont have issues with YouTube on CM7 so i will hold off for now on CM9. We use ours for video fairly often so i don't want to mess with it. It would be nice to have fewer force closes and it appears to have gotten better with CM9 from your experience. I have backed up with Titanium Backup (Paid) with much success. I might explore but probably holding out for now.

I wish i knew more about development so i could help out.

Cheers

Optimus-One:

I also have the HTC Thunderbolt and I was talking with my brother and he was telling me that the HTC incredible 2 is the same as the thunderbolt, would I be able to flash that ROM and have it work on my TB?
This topic was also discussed by in Feb. I have been looking to see if there is going to be a ROM for thunderbolt and I haven't been able to find a clear answer yes/no.  Will that now come out for CM9 and if so when will that come out?
