Yes, there are options to put Android on an iPad. however, if I am correct Cyanogen mod does not make rom for not-official Android devices, with exception for the HP touchpad of course.

Therefore I am almost certain that an iPad will never ever run CM.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem is that Apple, as of the iPhone 3Gs/ iPod touch 2nd gen, locks their bootloaders. Until a bootloader exploit is found, its difficult (not impossible) to work on a port. That, plus the fact that the iPad is usually sold to people who have no interest in Android, means progress is going to be slow.

Exactly. Everything in the system is locked from the end-user, that's the main feature of iOS.
