I have gone through the many pages of the forum as well as searched through them. I notice that the entire CM mods are based on a particular device.
Most devices are based on the same or similar processor families. Can we organize the CM release processor wise? The point is simple. Processors have their own basic kernels that require to be programmed. The rest of the OS goes on top of that kernel. Very often, the kernel is not directly visible. But, if the mods as done by CM are listed processor-wise, it will become easier for somebody like me to select the basic ROM suitable for my processor. I can then use it to add the modified OS without worrying about losing the kernel when I play around with the device's original ROM.
Just a thought.

It makes a lot of sense what you request. I'm new at ROM cooking for Android devices and I'm new to Android OS as well. I used to build hybrid roms for BlackBerry devices. The kernel was different for every processor as well, similiar OS structure on top of it, just a few .cod files changed according to screen resolution, keyboard type, touch/non touch screen...etc.
So after reading your post, I ran to find which device has the same processor as my Motorola Pro+ (Qualcomm MSM8255), and voilá: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, which already has cyanogenmod stable version. If i wanted to start cooking something for my Moto Pro+, where should I start? Thanks in advance!

I am feeling the same...as i am new to the Android and have just bought a tablet Mercury mTab Neo. I am looking for the update as the company provided it with Android 2.2.
