I followed each of the step in the sixth point here http://wiki.cyanogen...ll_Update_Guide

After completion of execution of the binary, it exits automatically from adb.

But I still done get the # prompt after restarting adb.

Any help guys?

I have the same problem with my Motorola Defy.

It interuppted at this command "/data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin".

I used the Howto from the Wiki:
http://wiki.cyanogen...ll_Update_Guide

I couldn't install the SU-package yet.

And now no device will be listed on the "adb devices" command.

I didn't restart my "Motorola Defy", because I don't know if the Defy is then broken.

I hope you can help.

I used the manual on http://forum.xda-dev....php?t=1054447.
It works! And you can reboot your phone.

Exactly the same issue. adb doesnt show any device after restart, and device is connected, but still shows me a CPU alert.

I did the exact same thing yesterday with the exact same results. Maybe that exploit doesn't work anymore?

Anyway, I tried superoneclick instead, and that rooted the phone without any trouble (though it made me install their unsigned driver even though I had the motorola drivers already installed). Past rooting, the steps on the wiki worked great, and I'm very pleased with CM7 so far. Definitely worth the effort.

With the moto defy. Are you able to hold the key combo to access the bootloader? If so select recovery, boot into recovery and factory reset. Best case scenario, you get back to stock. Worst. You end up stuck with an expensive paperweight. Also there may be an Ruu style install method. Im  not certain as I dont own a defy. just hoping to help you guys out.

Lastly try the d. rosenberg method to root your device. (motofail)
