Love CyanogenMod, had great performance with CM6 on my old G1 and CM7 on my wife's MyTouch 3G Slide. On the G2X, however, I cannot get mobile data to work with the SIMPLE Mobile APN. I know CM7 has a pre-configured APN for SIMPLE Mobile that's supposed to work, but I've not been able to get it to function. The stock rom (and roms based on it, like Weapon) does not have issues with the SIMPLE mobile configuration that's on their support page. On CM7 (both stable and nightly up to 220) and Arcee's CM9, I can get SMS and phone calls to work, but data will not.

I've tried hard resets to no avail; this will clear up the "disappearing APNs" issue, but data won't connect, for whatever reason.

Here's a radio logcat with the stock rom. I started this log after going into the diagnostics page (*#*#4636#*#*) and turning off the radio, then turned the radio back on while the logcat was running, then turned it back off after data had successfully connected.

Here's a radio logcat with CM7 stable for G2X, taken in the same fashion, using a new APN with the same settings as on the stock ROM (*not* the pre-configured APN that comes with CM7).

Should I file a bug on this? Or is there something else obvious that I'm not doing?

Thanks,
CC

Have you tried enabling National Data Roaming?

I have, it did not make a difference from what I could tell; I can provide logcats for this scenario if someone thinks it's relevant.

Hi,  I also use the G2x with simple mobile and have had working long time now.  U are actually gona be shocked at the "simplicity".  All you have to do is change the T-mobile APN.  First select the tmobile apn and it will open up the settings to it, then select the 2nd setting (APN) and change it to.......simple.  thats it, hit the back button and u can see the change. u can change the name also and that is what it will show for network name.  test connection may need reboot

Does anyone currently have 7.2 working on a G2X with Simple Mobile.  Because no simply changing the APN to simple on the T-Mobile Network is not enough & isn't working for me.  My G2X will connect fine on the Stock 2.3.3 Rom.  Anybody have any ideas as to why this won't work with the 2.3.7.  Could it be a baseband issue? I'm on the July 15 2011 Baseband, which as far as I know pretty much all the roms support.  If it was a Baseband issue could Calls  & MMS still work & it only be messed up with the Data part?

Thanks, Chuck

Edit your current APN or create a new one with the following settings
Username: "cbw"
Password: "password"
without the quotes and save. then select the new or modified APN.
Your data should start working :)
