I noticed this when flashing a friends Atrix after having "proved the path" with my own Atrix, he, like me was very happy (but not surprised!) by how much visibly quicker the UI was and how well the battery seems to last - I guess not hard compared to a steaming pile of motoblur....

Anyhow I digress - rather late in the day I agreed to "quickly" flash his Atrix for him as he was so impressed!

Well after 3 or so soft boots you get the measure of a friends integrity and sense of humour. (he has both thankfully!)

The route I'd taken on my atrix was to flash N36 then later I upgraded to CWM touch (5.8.1.8),
(I ended up buying the CWM app to help "pay back" all the stuff I enjoy!)

I took a look at (shiny shiny new - well to me!) CWM touch, from there the next day I looked at N37 to see the touch pad config - nice one guys!
(Don't worry I quickly settled down to a flash every week or two when I had my fantastic little blade)

So the route I chose for my mates was CWM 5.0.2.0 as per the wiki and N37, unfortunately this boot-looped even after carefully checking MD5's and wiping caches etc and even formatting /system.

To be honest it was my mate that suggested N36 but I'd have got there eventually - honest!

I have two equally half baked theories either.....

something in N37 only likes the silky fondle of CWM touch or.....

there is something in N36 that isn't in N37 and now my mate is happily booting,   future updates over N36 will "just work"™

Of course those ideas could be complete bollocks! and it all might have been bad luck (and lets not rule out incompetence (mine!)), but i *did* very carefully apply N37, three times without anything but a boot loop!

So next week or so.... what do you think is the best way forward ?

Unfortunately it's hard to pinpoint anything from your experience. It's an isolated case with no logs provided, so all we can do is chalk it up to luck and maybe an odd bug where users have trouble if nightly 37 is their initial CM flash. Regardless, nightlies are provided as is, and get outdated very quickly, so hopefully this issue wont arise again.

Yeah I know its difficult especially when you can't get a logcat during a boot loop (i did try!)

to be honest I posted just in case anyone else was experiencing the same issue...
